Do you ever feel like your crafting is forced? For the past couple of weeks I really have. I kept trying to come up with something and it just was not happening :( I haven't played along with a challenge since well before Christmas but today, hehe, today was different!
I think it was because my wonderful Mother came over yesterday to help me organize my craft room. So when I sat down I actually made something, and I like how it came out Shocking!!
So here is my first entry of the New Year for OTWC color challenge
I started by cutting the tan/white pattern to 5 1/2 x 4 1/4. The Burgundy I cut using Labels 8. The flowers were the really fun part :)
The roses were originally white. I first tried coloring them with shimmerz pearl in Grammie Berrie. It was way too purple. So i went back to my tried and true distress inks. I rubbed them first with black soot. I just used what was left on the applicator so it wouldn't be black, more grey. Then I added some fired brick. To make them shimmer and to blend the color more I sprayed the whole bouquet with Glimmer Mist in Pearl.
I cut the velvet with Tim Holtz's scalloped edge die. Before putting everything together I inked all my edges with black soot, even the velvet. You can't see the black very well on the velvet itself but because it has a lighter backing it really made a difference on the sides.
I glued everything down on the tan sheet first so I could wrap my ribbon around it. I don't like when my ribbon shows on the inside of my cards. After I wrapped it I just taped it on the back, then glued the whole piece to my card front. I added the flowers and bow with glue dots and done!
Welcome back mojo I missed you :)
This is very pretty! I love that bunch of flowers! Great job with the colors! ♥♥♥
