Sometimes in the dead of winter you just want spring to come and right now that's me. I'm so done with the snow!! It's literally -2 degrees outside and we have had constant snow cover for a month now, so when I saw The Sweet Stamping challenge was spring flowers I embraced it :)
I also made this card for Wee Memories challenge Dust off those Scraps. I'm not going to lie to you when I first saw the challenge I was like ugh . .scraps. I am terrible at using my scraps because well I'm not all that great at using multiple pattern papers together. However, I must thank Jenny for "challenging" me to do so because I am really happy with the way it turned out :)
I think this card is a perfect way to say Hello to a friend. Which happens to be Hero Arts monthly contest this month (Love and Friendship) so I'm going to enter it there too!
I started by stamping the flowers (Hero Arts, Flower Blossom Borders) big and little on each of the patterned scraps, then cut them out. I stamped just the leaves of the big flower on the green stripe paper, rubbed on some crushed olive ink, and cut them out.
I cut out the panel using labels eight. I rubbed broken china on the turquoise piece and crushed olive on the green stripes. Originally the stripes and polka dots were both white. I added the color to soften the backgrounds, otherwise it looked too busy. I backed the panel with black cardstock.
I laid out all my pieces parts to see where I wanted them to go and then drew in the stems. The stem on the original stamp is curved and I couldn't get it to lay straight.
I put the flowers together with foam and adhered them to the card with another layer of foam. I glued the leaves on flat. The buttons were added to the center with glue dots.
I stamped the sentiment (Hero Arts, Essential Messages) with jet black archival ink (Ranger) then glued the whole panel to a dark pink piece, which I added to a white card base :)
Thanks for coming to visit!
