Good evening Crafters!
So it's 14 degrees here which is balmy compared to the 7 degrees it was yesterday (felt like -9 with the wind chill). Yes, I know I live in Ohio AND it's January but even by Ohio standards it's cold!
The upside to the freezing weather is I stay inside ad craft :)
The other day I told you I would be back to share a card I made with alcohol inks. First I have to tell you why after ten years I decided to try alcohol inks. Answer: Jess Larsen. The card she created here was so super cute. I have to admit that just like Jess I was intimidated by the alcohol inks. However, last week I found myself in the middle of a Jo-Ann Fabrics 50% sale with $100 in gift cards so . . . . here we are :) um they are totally fun and easy and I have no idea why I wanted so long to get them!!
I also created these for CAS-ual Fridays challenge: Long and Short (i.e. a card with one long side and one short side).
First I used my alcohol inks to create a marbled type background on some acetate. After i tried out all the colors I bought (I have too!!) I die cut some hexagons out of each color. I backed them with white and popped them up on dimensional adhesive.
After I die cut the hexagons I was left with these colored acetate strips cut into a banner so . . .
I made another card. Which I have to admit I ended up liking better than the first ha! The sentiment originally said "you make me smile" so I masked to just use the word smile.
Thanks for stopping by and big thanks to Jess for the enabling :)

ReplyDeleteThese are awesome, Kelly! I especially love the banners with the contrast of the black strip and sentiment. Very cool!
ReplyDeleteI swear on commented on this but apparently not!! I'm so glad that you snagged some Alcohol inks because you are ROCKING them. I've been nuts about rainbow lately, so this is right up my alley. Beautiful! :-)
ReplyDeleteSo, so creative & gorgeous! Love these cards, but the second one is my favorite--ingenious!
ReplyDeleteWhat method did you use to apply the inks to the acetate to give such a lovely watercolor effect? It's lovely.
