Hey crafty peeps! I said yesterday I'd be seeing you soon and here I am :)
Since I'm officially back from my maternity leave I'm here with my card for A Blog Named Hero's 31st Challenge!
So buttons are super cute embellishments buuuutttt I don't often use them! Gasp! :( I just never really know where to put them since so much of my style is CAS. However, I had 3 months worth of backlogged creativity propelling me and I'm actually pretty happy with my button card :)
I started by stamping the Hero Arts Starburst background with distress inks. I made a template and labeled where each color should go (I used 18 of them, 9 to stamp and 9 to blend!!) then masked each area of the stamp as I inked up each ray with the appropriate color. I misted a little with water to make sure they would all stamp.
Once that was done I took a thin sharpie and my ruler to outline each ray. Now I blended in all my other distress inks. I just masked and blended until I had them just the way I wanted. I really really (REALLY) love the way it turned out! I trimmed down my inked panel and mounted it on black. I wanted it to look like a Polaroid snapshot on my card base.
For my cloud I stamped the Hero Arts cloud from Right at Home in Versamark and heat set it in white. I trimmed it out and I adhered my buttons with glue dots. I felt like my button holes looked empty but I didn't want to pull them off and put string on them so I filled them with stardust stickles. I also filled the gaps in between the buttons with stickles. It's really pretty cute, especially for a last minute solution!
The sentiment is from Hey Dey Sentiments, was heat set in white, and trimmed into a banner.
Not to toot my own horn but I think it's not so shabby for 3 months off :)
Don't forget to head over to the A Blog Named Hero to play along! You can win a fabulous gift card
