Good evening crafters!
This week we are celebrating the joy of gift giving . . er . . . making . . over at A Blog Named Hero.
A long, long time ago there was a little girl who could not wrap a pretty gift to save her life. You see she was so excited to give the gift she rushed through the wrapping process :) As she got older how the gift looked became just as important to her as the actual gift itself so . . .I decorated a gift box as my project today.
I had seen this paper calla lily tutorial on Pinterest and knew that was what I wanted to do. I love calla lilies they are my favorite flower!
I did change some things up. First the size, I used 2.5 and 3 inch squares to create my flowers.
I colored them with distress inks working from lightest to darkest. I then stamped my design in the medium distress color. So for the blue I used tumbled glass, broken china, and salty ocean. I stamped in broken china. Make sense? :)
Santa gave us so many gorgeous goodies I couldn't stop stamping to create all these beautiful petals! You can see a whole list of my supplies over at A Blog Named Hero. I should note in order to keep the backsides clean and white I covered them with a post it note.
Here's a few close ups of the stamp designs
Once they were colored I rounded two opposite corners and rolled them into a bloom. Before I stapled them closed I added a strip of yellow to act as a stamen. Once they were all put together I added stardust stickles to the stamen. In hindsight I probably should have done that first.
I stamped Her Arts leaves, I swear I use these on everything, in mowed lawn. I then colored it with mowed lawn and pined needles. Everything was glued down with glue dots. The twine bow was created by just folding my twine several times and tying a bow :)
Thanks for stopping by! Don't forget to Head over to A Blog Named Hero to see all the other gifts. These girls are amazing!!
