Sketches, Stripes, and Online Card Classes Oh My!

 Hello crafters!

How are we doing this evening? Well I hope :)
How many of you are taking the Clean and Simple 3 Card class? I am not that you would know since I haven't had very much time to play along. I did manage to put something together after seeing this week's Case(e) This Sketch challenge.

In the class they showed how you can create an (almost) one layer card by using inset dies and fitting them back together. They also showed us how to get the lovely plaid look without stripe stamps. I've tried several times with those babies and never seem to line it up right. This way worked much better for me.

Since I was thinking plaid I also thought this would be perfect for KIS Challenge Stripes too. I normally don't do two challenges for one card but this just worked out :)

Ready?

I LOVE the way my tag turned out! It's the only plaid I've ever done that actually looked decent!

On my white card base I stamped the large bursts from Avery Elle's Bright Days set in Charcoal from Hero Arts.

Next I used I stamped the large tag from Avery Elle's Simply Tags: Everday set on white. To create the plaid I used post it notes as masks and rubbed on distress inks in different colors. After I trimmed out the large tag I stamped the smaller tag on top of it. This is where that inlay technique comes in. I don't have dies for these stamps so I just trimmed them out myself.

I cut the smaller tag out of the bigger tag then insert a white tag I cut out. I stamped the so much sentiment in rainbow distress inks. I again cut apart the larger tag to "inlay" my black strip. That tag really needed an anchor. It looked like it was just floating there. ha!

I adhered everything flat to the card. I stamped the sentiment in black and added a little bow where the twine would normally be on a tag. Since there are no stickles (WHAT?! NO STICKLES?!) on this card I added a little itty bitty rhinestone to my bow.

That's for dropping in! I hope to see you soon :)

XoXo
