Good morning crafters!
I hope you're weekend is going well. We had my niece's birthday party yesterday and Nathan got to ride a pony! He loved it! I know he won't remember it but at least I got a picture or 20 ;)
So onto the card. I'm playing along with Lawnscaping's current challenge.
I always heat embossing because well i love techniques and I really suck at finding ways to use dry embossing. I decided to force myself outside the box and dry emboss. I think it came out okay!
I started by embossing a white panel with my Cuttlebug Spots folder. I rubbed on some tumbled glass and salty ocean. To add a little interest I stamped the herringbone from Lawn Fawn's interlocking backgrounds over top of it with soft pool Hero Art's ink. I adhered that flat to my card base.
I die cut a circle out of another white card panel then used two circle dies to cut the border. I NEED finished edges. I can't help myself! Everything else of the card is from Lawn Fawn's Critters from the Past. I stamped the dinosaur twice. Once just the way it comes and once in reverse (or mirror stamping). I also stamped two palm trees. Everything was fussy cut and then colored with distress inks.
I saw a wonderful video by Sandy Allnock the other day where she was showing how to use dies without the stamps. She drew spots on the dinosaurs that were awesome. You can see the video here. I first tried my hand drawing the spots with my white gel pen. Turns out Sandy makes that crap look easy. Mine were hideous! Then I remembered my butterfly bookmark and how much I loved the way the butterfly turned out so I decided to "freckle" my dinos instead. I love it! They look so cute :) I also added dots of stardust stickles to my lady dinosaur.
I popped up the white panel and all the over hanging images wit dimensional adhesive. Before adhering it down I tied on some pink baker's twine from the Twinery. In hindsight I'm not sure if I love it but I couldn't get it off if I wanted to so it stays ;)
P.s. I wasn't going to take the time to recolor that whole dinosaur so I tried many, many, ways to erase those ugly spots. Turns out coloring over them multiple times with a copic almost completely erases them!
That's it for me! I hope you have a wonderful day :)
XoXo
