Oh Oh It's Magic, You Know . . . .

 Hello crafters!

Before we get to today's card and an explanation of that title I wanted to touch base with you a little. I was recently talking to a crafty friend about blogging and card making and all things that make my heart pitter patter and I realized. I hate blogging. Yep, I hate it, and it's my own fault.

I love to read other people's blogs where you can see their personality show through. You get to know them, their families, their kids, their struggles. Their blogs are personal. When I write mine I mostly feel like I'm giving an instruction list and then peace out yo. So I'm going to try to be better about that. I'm also going to try to be better about what it is I LOVE. Not just what's trending or what could get me more views, more followers. What I love to do. It's CAS style cards and stamping in case over the years you have gotten confused as I sometimes have :) I realize I might lose some readers and I have to tell you that I love you and I don't care. I want readers who enjoy my things and me. Readers who want to connect on personal level. People I can talk to and they talk back and we could have a honest to goodness conversation. That's what I'm looking for. If you are too stick around :)

Now let me catch you up a bit on my life. First we took Nathan camping for the first time. Long story short it was fun, there was a lot of not sleeping, made bearable only by the strawberry shortcake vodka  squeals of joy from my child. All and all after screaming, crying, joking, laughing, swimming, and drinking I think it went enough to risk it again sometime.
This week there was a frog in our toilet. Not our camping toilet, our real toilet. My husband took a picture but I won't be sharing it because well, I have a one year old and the toilet wasn't the cleanest it's ever been. I'll spare you the graphic detail. My wonderful husband, in all his intelligence, flushed the frog back down the toilet. Basically, now I'm terrified to pee and have to check the toilet ever 3 seconds anytime I have to use. It's awesome. The struggle is real ya'll.

Okay onto the card. I am playing along with CAS-ology and this time the cue card is

When I first saw the card I thought of the song by Pilot (yes it's older, don't act like you don't know it) hence the title of my post. Also I remembered I had bought the Magical Dreams Set from Newton's Nook awhile back and I thought it would be perfect. I also used a jar from another Newton's set Versatile Vases.

Here is where the sharing part gets ugly . . . .or at least less pretty. I had originally thought of fairies and woods, you know real magical stuff here folks. I didn't have fairies but I could give the illusion of woods.

I DO NOT love this. However, I usually try to get a few opinions before I completely pitch a card and one or two actually liked this. Anywho, maybe it will give you some inspiration. It just taught me to stay in my wheel house. ;)

Ahhh much better. I know it's cleaner and simpler but hey, that's me. I stamped and masked my jar and wand before coloring them in. The blue was added with tumbled glass and a H20 pen. The gold is a metallic writing pen from EK Success. I didn't mask the wand when I stamped the magic coming out of the jar any boo boos I just covered with swirls and dots of gold and stardust stickles.

This post is long as what. Thanks for sticking in there :)

XoXo

  3. I know what you can about blogging and for me it goes in fits and starts. Sometimes I have things to share and other times there doesn't seem to be much of interest going on to write about. I've stopped trying so hard to come up with wildly entertaining posts and just go with how I'm feeling each day. That said, I love your post today. Your stories are brilliant especially the frog one! Glad I'm not the only one afraid that something might crawl up out of my toilet! LOL!!!
As for for cards - I like them both. That inked background on the first one is cool and definitely has a magical feel. The second is my favourite though but that's just 'cause I'm a CAS whore! ;) Thanks for playing along with CASology this week!

  4. Well Kelly, you're a brave one camping with a toddler. Glad you all had a fun time:) I would sure hate to find a frog in my toilet!
While I REALLY like the colors on your first card, the flow of the MAGICal stars and doodles is much better in the second.

  5. Kelly, your entire post made me chuckle today! Good for you, you write your posts however you want...trust me, your readers will love it! Camping? You are brave...kuddos! Frog in toilet? Yuck...and I totally understand your current "concerns" when in the bathroom! I laughed even more at your comment aboit not showing the picture you took...I'm beginning to think my boys wear a blindfold when in the bathroom as some sort of strange game. I could never take a picture of our toilet unless I had cleaned it seconds beforehand!

Anyway, I adore your magical cards...the colors of the first are amazing, but I LOVE the white card base on the second and it makes the images pop! So glad you joined us at CASology this week!

  7. Love both of your cards today. I agree that the 2nd one is more CAS and I think it is my favorite by a smidge. Although I am pretty smitten by your gorgeous background in the first. Thanks so much for playing along at CASology this week.

  8. It was really fun to read your post today, Kelly! So glad you had fun camping...and I really hope you never have to worry about that frog in your toilet!
I love how you created both cards! As a CAS gal, I'm partial to the 2nd one, but both really are awesome!

  9. Blogging can be fun - or a lot of work! But I LOVE reading everyones blogs and seeing what they create! I love both your cards today - Although the second one is cleaner I do love the colors of the ink on the first one! Both super pretty! Thanks for sharing!

  10. That was a great post, Kelly! I'm living proof that one can be their own self and say whatever they want to share on a card hobby blog and people will respond! I love your style of writing, much like my own, and love how you bring us into your crafting experience! By commenting on each other's blogs, deep friendships happen in this happy stamping community! I've been a follower of yours for some time, but I don't see you in my follower thumbnails. I'd love to have you follow me back, if you like!

Your cards are both great, but as a CAS gal, I'll admit I do love all that white space on the second one! Your HM honor from CASology is well-deserved!!

A wee little tree-type wee frog, right? I recently did a post about spiders coming up the drains of the bathtub, but I've never had a frog in the toilet. I wonder how long it will take for you to relax and do your business without checking? That could result in Irritable Bowel Syndrome!! Hugs, Darnell

  11. Here from Darnell's blog and I love your cards(style). My sister had a frog in her toilet...a big surprise in the middle of the night! The assumption of some (I don't know how knowledgeable they are, but....) is that the frog accidentally falls into the outside vent which is on the roof. I've heard of it happening to others, too, and I always cross my fingers when nature calls during the night.
