Hello Crafters!
Are you tired of me yet? I feel like I've been posting like crazy lately :)
It's either feast or famine around here.
I'm embracing the feast at the moment because in a few months there will be a drought.
I don't know what it is about winter but I almost always lose my mojo.
I think it's the snow. and cold. and general yuckiness. ha!
Do you have that problem too?
Well you all know that I love me some bright colors. This is important because autumn is on the way. I think this season is beautiful but I can't translate it into a card, like ever. During the crop I recently attended the wonderful Lin suggested using my same "go to" (i.e. flowers. like you didn't know!) but changing up the colors.
So I tried that. It's pretty okay I think.
I used a couple of Hero Arts sets and one of their stencils too!

Stone Circle Pattern |
I almost never use pattern paper. Buy it? Yep. Hoard it? You betcha! You know what pattern paper I do use? The ones I make :) There is something so satisfying about creating a pattern from plain white cardstock. I HAVE to use it!!
The whole idea here was a little flower growing up next to a rock wall. Do you see it?
I created my stone wall using the Stone Circle Pattern Stencil. I put down a light layer of iced spruce on my white card stock and then laid down my stencil. I added more iced spruce very heavily with pops of walnut stain, frayed burlap, and black soot. I adore the way it came out. They look like real stones!! Eeeh!
The flower was stamped and colored with more distress ink. I added some detail with a white gel pen to really make the center pop. The leaves and stem are a solid image but I'm a weirdo and have to have all my images match. I stamped them in a light green and then added distress ink over top to get some shading. I outlined them both in black and added a few white dots to them too. Why not?!
The sentiment was perfect to nestle right into that flower. I'll be giving this card to a church friend who called me after we hadn't been for a few weeks. This is how you stay on track people. People who care enough about you to remind you that you've veered to far from your intended path ;)
All of the products I used are in stock over at A2ZScrapbooking. That stencil is on sale for $4.00! $4.00!!! As always please feel free to use my reader code KELLYL15 to snag yourself 15% off.

ReplyDeleteHi Kelly! Wida sent me over to your blog, since she mentioned you in a post today. I have enjoyed looking at you cards, very much so! Love your writing style as well. :) Have to agree with you on the patterned paper thing...it's as though I wrote those words. I like to make my own more than I like to use the (many) hoarded papers I've got.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to meet ya!
