Hello Crafters!
I'm popping in real quick to share before heading off to a crafty day with some ladies from my area. I don't know about the rest of you but I so look forward to these days. It's not just the crafting it's the opportunity to talk to people who "get" this part of my life.
Exactly.
Most of the people in my regular everyday life are like "You make cards?! Why?" Do you guys have this problem too. P.S. that "What I really do" photo is kind of accurate at least in the desk arena. Yikes.
So Simon Says Stamp has this Anything Goes challenge going on and they are showcasing Hero Arts stamps. I usually try to use what ever they are showcasing if I have it. So there is a little bit of Hero Arts but there is also some Lawn Fawn. This is bizarre for me because usually I don't mix and match companies for a project. I'm not sure why. I just don't. Do you have a weird irrational practice in your card making too? No, just me? Yeah, I'm always the weird one :)
A co-worker of mine just found out they are pregnant with their second baby. How exciting! I wanted to make them a card but I also wanted to make one for their 2yo daughter. What else do you make a 2yo besides a shaker card? It's my first one. I hope she loves it!
I stamped some outline circles from Hero Arts set Circles sets in Pale Tomato, Butter Bar, Tide Pool, and Green Hills right on to my card base. Have to keep those colors gender neutral. ha! After I stamped them I outlined some in stickles.
I cut a "Polaroid" frame out of white card stock for my container. I adhered acetate to the back to keep my hearts in. Speaking of hearts I smeared some of each ink color onto scrap pieces of paper before diecutting some hearts that are included in Lawn Fawn's Stitched Journaling Card. Add more stickles. Never enough glitter. Attach this bad boy with two layers of dimensional adhesive.
Here is the card with the hearts "shaken"
I stamped, masked, and trimmed the balloons from Lawn Fawn's Admit one. Before adding them to the card I attached some black string to each balloon. I colored them with copics to look transparent. I love the way they came out!!
The sentiment collage is a combination. The congratulations is actually a banner stamp from Hero Arts/Studio Calico Heydey Sentiments. I stamped in Tide Pool and trimmed off the banner edges. The big sister was created using Milo's ABCs and each previously listed color. It looked like it needed something so I found a scrap heart on my desk colored it with Copics and added stardust stickles.
Just for fun here is the card I created for Mom and Dad too!
Same everything except the elephant. It's from Hero Art's New Baby and was colored with copics. I felt like the black stitched outline was too dark so I went over it with a white gel pen.
I'm off to get chatty . .. .er . . I mean crafty.
Thanks for dropping in!
I hope you have a wonderful Saturday :)
XoXo

Have a Great time with your crafty friends!
Two really cute cards, Kelly! I love how you play with color...it always looks fabulous! By the way, you're not weird at all! I prefer to keep everything from the same company (and stamp set) if I can, but I love how you mixed it up today! Your card for mom and dad is so thoughtful and sweet, and I'll bet their 2 yr old loves her shaker card!
ReplyDeleteI hope you're having a really fun day with your crafty friends!
The shaker card is fabulous, amazing colouring on the balloons!! Super cute designs!!!
ReplyDeleteKeelllyy.......so fun!!
ReplyDeletebwahahahaha!!! This photo in the beginning just cracks me up, and is soooo true! I get people all the time say, oh.... that's nice... hehehe! These cards are awesome! I adore that sweet elephant!
ReplyDeleteAt least you didn't say you were off to get crappy, Kelly! That's the word I usually mix up with drafty, er, I mean crafty. What a fun post! You really were jazzed in this one; I love the enthusiasm!
ReplyDeleteLet's start with that funny. OMGOD!! That was new to me and I laughed my asp off!! Such clever funny people in the world!
And then, geez, really your friends ask you WHY you make cards??? I think that is so so sososososo SAD! Of course, at my age, no one asks me that. They clap and say, "Oh, goody, send me one!" (If you could see me on Faceplant right now, I'm doing one of those old-lady-head-shakes that signify the world is going to hell in a hand basket.)
Okay, so your first - FIRST! - shaker card is a total delight!! Incredible! Fun!! She is going to flip her two yo wig over it! Aren't they so fun to make? I've got tons more NBUS crap, er, crafts to make more if I can find the TIME.
And, finally, the card for the parents. Please. Those balloons are colored so perfectly, they look real! I could eat them! And the idea to cover the black stitching with the white. Shut up. You really are genius when it comes to design. I predict you will have your own line of stamps /stamp company and challenges one day! There, I said it. Hugs, Darnell
Such a fun shaker card! Great colors and design.
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly,
ReplyDeleteI'm new-ish to reading your blog and am enjoying it very much! You have lots of creative talent for making cards and I really like your sense of humor. The poster you shared made me giggle. The cards you made for this post are spectacular. Great first shaker card! The colors look terrific together and that two year old will probably walk around the house shaking the card to death! The card for the parents is fabulous as well. I can't get over the balloons! Well done! Very well done! :) Thanks for sharing!
