Paper Smooches: One Layer Inspiration

 Hello crafters!

How are you all doing?
I am wonderful, okay beyond wonderful. Every once in a while in the sweet crafty world of blog land I am blessed enough to win a challenge. Recently, I have won a few and every single time I'm stoked.
Sometimes it includes a prize but sometimes it doesn't. Either way is fine for me because to me it's about my projects out in the world inspiring people. It's real talented people looking at something that I made and saying to themselves "Man that's cool/beautiful/interesting/different/whathaveyou and I'm really inspired by it."
Sometimes there a certain challenges that are like the be all end all of supremely talented people and to win it is a huge ginormous honor. Today I got one of those. I almost fell out of my seat!!

This card won the Runway Inspired Challenge. I mean that team is full of such exceptional talent. Jen RzasaLindsay Amrhein, Agnieszka Malyszek,  even there retired list is amazing Wida Miller, Laura Bassen, Sarah JayCristina Kowalczyk.  The List goes on and on but you get the point.  I'm feeling so very very blessed right now :) How little old me would fit in amongst those girls is unfathomable to me but I'll take it! What's your be all end all challenge to win? I have a few more on bucket list still :)

On to the actual card for today. Another one layer love for me!

Paper Smooches (another fabulous team there too! Extra special love to my girl Katie Gehrig!) is holding a photo inspiration challenge this week. I love to look at these types of galleries. It's fascinating all the different interpretations! Do you guys do that to?

Here is the photo

As soon as I saw the vase on the left all I could think about was the Blossoming Buds set. It's like it was made for this! Plus this photo is flowers. Oh Paper Smooches were you thinking of me when you picked this photo?! I'm sure you weren't but let me have my disillusions! I loved the colors and the detail on the skull too.

I also wanted to play along with CAS(E) this sketch. This team has so many talented girls I couldn't even list them!

I thought the rounded flowers in Blossoming Buds would be perfect to mimic the swoop of the banner. I did turn the sketch vertical. I know it's abstract but hopefully you can still see it.

Flowers + Colors + Detail + Sketch. Add them all up and you get:

Tada! Hahaha.
I picked out the red, orange, and purple from the inspiration photo. I would have loved to use that bright blue but I just didn't have copics that matched it so I picked a more blue/green for my leaves. I pretty much just stamped and colored. Two of my favorite things.
I did learn something though. Kathy Racoosin is always talking about how she outlines her images in black marker after she stamps. Straight up, I thought she was crazy. Turns out it's totally worth it. I really felt like the images POPPED so much more after I outlined them. That girl knows her business :) The white dots are another thing I learned from Kathy and I super love them. I use them all the time now! I tried to mimic the white detail on the skull vase. I added some stickles to my flower centers and stamped the sentiment from the same set.
One layer love, is there anything better?!

Thanks for stopping by!

XoXo
