Poinsettia Revisited . . .A New Challenge

 Hello Crafters!

I was so blown away by your response to my card yesterday! You guys are seriously super awesome!! You're making me rethink my love/hate relationship with Autumn cards ha!

Today I'm playing along with a new challenge, well new to me anyway. Do you have a blogger you follow that creates the most wonderful cards and enters them into all kinds of challenges? For me that's Kimberly Weiner. Her cards always blow me away. She is super active in the crafty community so I always go visit her when I'm looking for inspiration. Usually, I find a challenge or two she's involved in that I've never seen before. One of the last times I visited she had created a card for AAA Cards (Here card is here and so beautiful btw) I loved the CASE card by Julia Sager that is the inspiration and decided to play along!

Here is Julia's card

I loved the starburst effect and the colors she used!

I wanted to recreate the idea of the focal point being at the center of the design without it overwhelming the card. I used Hero Arts/Basic Grey Leaf and Flourish Stencil to get the look I wanted. I smooshed my Versamark pad over the stencil then heat embossed using WOW Neutral Ultra Shimmer Embossing Glitter. It's so glittery in real life. It's like having my whole background made out of stardust stickles!! Swoon! However, it photographs not so well.

Here is a close up

I don't even know if that shows it any better but hey, I tried ;)

I inked up Hero Arts Peace Poinsettias and Holly Jolly again. I told you you'd be seeing this baby again and again! I stamped and fussy cut them then colored the images with distress ink. Some little white dots were added to the center.

I really wanted the sentiment to lay over top of my design like Julie's does in her card but I learned my lesson about stamping on top of things. I decided to stamp on a piece of acetate that way I could lay my sentiment right over top of my flower and it would still be legible. The sentiment is from Hero Arts Hello Sunshine set. I stamped it in black just like Julie and added three enamel dots in place of her rhinestones.

Isn't playing along with new things fun?! As an added bonus all the stamps and stencil are available over at A2ZScrapbooking. Please feel free to use the code KELLYL15 for 15% off your order :)

Thanks for dropping by!

XoXo
