RIC: Ombre Diamonds

 Hello Crafters!

Good morning and happy Friday to you! We were extremely busy last night at work. One disorderly intox, (i.e. I'm being a drunk and I refuse to cooperate with you nice officers) two DUI's, and a cruiser vs deer accident and I'm home. Fortunately, nights like these also make the night go by fast which is always nice.

Today's card is for the current challenge over at Runway Inspired. Here is the inspiration photo

I was immediately in love with the diamond pattern and of course the colors. With me it's always the colors :)

Before we get to the card can we just talk fashion for a quick second? How many of you crafty gals are fashionistas? I see so many photos of people who have all these fabulous accessories. Their outfits are totally pulled together like they could have just walked off a makeover show where the pros put their duds together.
Meanwhile, I'm over here in a pair of Levi's, flip flops, and a Zelda t-shirt. Ahem. Yes, Zelda is a video game. Moving on. Quickly, QUICKLY.
Don't get me wrong I wish I could put something together that was all oohs and ahhs but if I'm running to the gas station I'm wearing sweatpants yo. I know What Not to Wear would have me flogged but I just can't wrap my head around the idea of getting all dressed up to pump gas.
These, of course, are the times you run into your ex-boyfriend who has lost twenty pounds and looks like he should be on the cover of GQ. Am I right or am I right?

Anyway. I just wonder how many other creative people are so trendy and fabulous in the card making world feel like they don't ever incorporate their "style" into their "style." Maybe that's why I love the Runway Inspired Challenge so much because I can see what's trending without actually having to do anything to my wardrobe ha!

Kelly Latevola You and Your Big Dreams

A few weeks ago the amazing Jennifer McGuire did a video where she showed ombre stamping with one color and white ink. I really wanted to try it and this card offered the perfect opportunity.

I inked up the large solid diamond from Hero Arts set So Kind with Pale Tomato shadow ink and set to creating my ombre. As you see in the video you stamp it once solid, Once with just the bottom inked up and the top blotted off. Lastly you stamp with the white on top but blotted off the bottom. After I stamped all the pale tomato diamonds I went back and stamped over top of them in Grape Jelly shadow ink. I think you can see the ombre better with the Grape Jelly just because it's a darker ink. I used my white gel pen to draw a frame around each diamond. I felt like this broke up the solid stamping a bit.

I die cut the Simon Says Stamp Thanks die from black and coated it with glossy accents to give it a little more weight. Not to mention shine! I scattered some black . . .okay they were clear and I colored them black . . . I am admittedly a cheap skate when it comes to embellishments. Whatever, it worked didn't it?!
I popped the panel up with dimensional adhesive and adhered it to a white card base.

Thanks for visiting!!

XoXo
