Hello crafters!
So last Friday I went on my fall spending spree and order lots of new goodies. I try to only do two large purchases twice a year. This way I can make sure I really want it and it helps me to spend less. There is usually at least one "OMG I HAVE TO HAVE IT RIGHT NOW!" moment through out the year. I'm not perfect :)
I digress. During my spree I knew I had to have Hero Arts new stamp set Peace Poinsettias.
That outline Poinsettia. It's a need. A NEED, people. I miss outline stamps so much. I'm not saying build your own flowers sets aren't pretty. They are. Sometimes though I just want to color. Is that too much to ask?
Anywho, I ordered. Then I saw the current Runway Inspired Challenge and I prayed. Oh please, oh please Lord let my stamps get here before this deadline runs out.
Why you ask? Look at that bustier! All I could think about was that poinsettia and how perfect it would be to make a card for this challenge. Oh please. Oh please.
Apparently God thought I should indeed make a card for this challenge because he put some angel wings on my package and it arrived just in time :) Whoop Whoop!
Oh, how I love this flower. I'll apologize now for how much you will be seeing this flower in the future.
I masked the top portion of my card using a mask die cut from a spellbinders die. Turns out this was completely unnecessary because you can't see it but that's okay sometimes you have to just go with it :) I outlined the masked portion with a thin black pen.
I stamped and masked the top portion of my card and then I colored, Just colored and colored until my heart was content :) Ahh little things.
I decided I wanted one poinsettia to really stand out so I colored one along with some leaves and added it over the stamped piece with dimensional adhesive. The centers were colored with a gold metallic pen. I added the little dots back in with a white gel pen.
A simple sentiment in black from Hero Arts Hello Sunshine finished it off.
The houndstooth in the original photo is gorgeous however I just couldn't use it. There are really fabulous card designers that can incorporate pattern like nobody's business. I am not one of them. If I have learned anything in the years I've spent in this hobby it's go with what is "you" Too much pattern isn't me. Flowers are me and I think they are more than enough to carry the card. What do you think?
Thanks for stopping by!
XoXo
