Hello Crafters!
*For some reason this didn't post correctly, sorry I'm late!*
I was a bit worried with the holiday I wasn't going to get anything made but I managed to squeeze it in! I'm absolutely thrilled to bring you today's genius . . .
Kara-Lynne!!!
I've loved her work and her sheer sweetness for years. I'm sure she'd be shocked to know but when I first started mulling over the concept of CASEing Genius Kara Lynne was one of the few I had in mind right away. Unfortunately, at that time she was on a crafting hiatus. I'm so glad she's back, bringing her kind encouragement and beautiful talent with her! Her cards are always happy with such gorgeous layers. The only thing that could possibly outshine her talent is her fabulous personality. She is such a beautiful person. I really hope you'll go over to her blog and checkout all her gorgeous creations!
The Interview:
1. Who are you and where do you live?
My name is Kara Pogreba, aka Kara Lynne in blogland. I live in Kimberly, Wisconsin
2. How would you describe your style?
My style is a bit eclectic and evolving, but I think it most often falls into the clean and layered category
3. Name one product you're completely crushing on right now?
The one product I want (and recently received) is the MISTI! It's so cool!
4. What is was your first crafty purchase? Would you still buy it now?
My first crafty purchase was at a Creative Memories party in 2001. I bought a few items. One that I still use today is the Personal Paper Trimmer (of course, this may be too personal to mention).
Fun stuff!!
5. What is your current favorite song?
My favorite song right now is still the song we chose for our wedding: I Will Be Here by Steven Curtis Chapman.
6. Who would play you in a movie?
It was difficult to decide who should play me in a movie until my husband reminded me of the NBC show, Parenthood. That show had so many similarities to our own family that it was eerie! My husband is the first born of four, so that would make him Adam Braverman, which would make me his mousy wife Kristina (Monika Potter)! I hope she and I were not one of the similarities.
7. One random thing about you that people would never guess?
Something people probably don't know about me is that I have degrees in both music therapy and speech pathology. I stopped practicing when our first daughter was born and haven't worked outside of the home since. I loved what I did, but I am so thankful for what I am doing now.
Who didn't go to a Creative Memories party and leave with a folder full of stuff?!
Ready for some pretty things?
Hello beautiful blooms! I love all the texture she achieved by layering the flowers! The colors are just stunning.
Hello adorable little scene! I love how she uses the rays in the pattern paper to help build the scene.
Oh my cuteness! All the little ducks in a row are perfectly adorable but then you add in the little guy they are all looking up at and you just fall in love.
The CASE:
You know I zoomed in on the those gorgeous flowers from Kara's first card right away. I wanted to keep with the tag idea too. I took the subtle pattern paper idea from the second card as well as the glossy accents on the large die cut. I decide to use the pattern paper in a strip like Kara did on her third card and I chose the huge Hello from Simon Says Stamp based on her large smile sentiment.
I stamped and masked the largest flower from Create A Smile's Magic Flowers and colored them with copics. I die cut a second tag out of vellum to give a bit of a break from the bright yellow strip. I die cut the large Hello from white and covered it in glossy accents. Anything that adds more shine I say yes too :) I used another Create A Smile set, Bad Day, for the Sunshine part of my sentiment. I heat embossed in white on black paper and trimmed it out. I used a few clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh as a nod to Kara's enamel dots from her first card.
Thank you so much for stopping by!
Please go visit Kara Lynne and leave her some love :)
XoXo
