Finally, They are here!

  Hello Crafters!

It's Saturday and I'm feeling chatty so let's talk shall we?

You know these Zig Clean Color markers are all the rage right now. I was like "ooh pretty" I need these. Then I went and looked at the price tag and choked on my coffee. What in the what?! I know I'm a cheap skate but Damn, Gina.
Thankfully I was able to find them for 50% off on Amazon. Yes! Sales!
Then I waited 600 years for them to arrive.
six. hundred. years.
Actually it was about a month but in crafty time, totally 600 years.

They finally came! Whoop! Whoop!
Then I spent an enormous amount of time opening every single one from it's plastic wrap.
The perforations were a joke. A mirage of hope that you can easily get into your new toy and play immediately.  They were little marker straightjackets.
I bought the 36 set.
It took me an hour to open all of  them using a pair of scissors and an exacto knife to extract them.
I love that you can get them individually though. Since they aren't refillable it's awesome that you can just replace the ones you use the most.

I will say though they are completely worth the money and the marker surgery I had to perform. In fact, I'm in love. We're getting married and hope to have a rainbow of children soon.

They blend really easily. I've heard that a lot of people prefer to use them without water but I actually like them with. It just gives a good final blend to everything.

I'm sharing this card over at the A2Zscrapbooking blog today but I wanted to share here too.

You can head over to the blog to see all the details of how I made it. I'm also using some new Hero Arts stamp sets. More flowers, can't help myself :)

Thanks for stopping by!

XoXo

  1. Gorgeous!!! LOL at waiting 600 years (so true) and the marker surgery to remove wrapping, but agree...completely worth the wait to get to see eye candy such as this card! Congrats and have fun!

  2. Hahaha. This made me laugh. I ordered a set from Amazon and felt the same way! And the plastic casings are a nightmare. I've been pulling mine off as I use and it's a pain!
Your card is GORGE! Awesome job!!!! Love that stamp set too!!! Kudos!

  5. A great card and an almost even greater story Kelly! I must admit I've ordered a set of the Zigs too. I've held myself back for about - what? - a month perhaps. And I always said they're way too expensive. But then - suddenly - there was this big bargain on Amazon and I couldn't retain myself any longer. That was two weeks ago. And now I'm waiting. And waiting. And envying you. And waiting. You know what it's like. Hope you share some more wedding pics while I'm going through all of this. :o)

  6. I love reading your posts, Kelly but it makes me miss you even more because of your sense of humor and how you write exactly the same as you talk!

This card is gorgeous! So glad you like the markers because that means we all get to see more of your stunning talent! Love you! ♥

  7. Yep, I too waited ages for these, and the plastic wrapping is a nightmare and I only had 12 to open!! You make them look so good and this is a beautiful card. I'm still trying with mine, but deciding they are not for me :)

  8. I laughed at your description of opening those little suckers! The perforations are a total joke but it was worth the effort! Fabulous card - such rich and deep color.

  9. Your blog post today cracked me up, it sounds like something that would happen to me. I am like a bargain too, to bad I didn't know about that Amazon sale but my husband says I am a tight wad, I will admit I am. But that card is beautiful. I hear everyone go on about those Zig clean color brush I think I am holding on jumping on the band wagon because of the price, mostly.

  11. I love your art. Today is no exception. Loved the post too. Sorry you had to wait 600 years and if you twist the cap with one hand and the body of the pen/marker with the other in opposite directions, surgery is usually an outpatient procedure and not the pain and suffering you had to endure. You can buy the markers individually and there are 80 colors. Under the right circumstances (coupons, sales, etc) you can get them from an art supply store online and shipping is usually free. I prefer to use them with water and blending via tip to tip . Thank you again for such a gorgeous piece of artwork. ~m~

  12. Oh Kelly this is a stunner - pity about the straight jackets :-)!! and the cost, which is what is inhibiting me from buying them - I will just have to stick to the more conventional watercolour mediums...

  13. LOL, you're good, Kelly! I think it took me an hour to get into 12 of them. And now I wish I'd gotten the 36! I've only done a couple of projects but love using them with water! Your flowers are so pretty! I have a hard time resisting flower stamps. and butterflies and birds too....

  15. This is so gorgeous, Kelly! I think the Ziggies were made with you in mind! I broke down and ordered a set even though I have the SAI ones and I won't get them until the middle of September. I wondered if they would dry out riding camels and donkeys and barges all that way to me, so it's good to know you still had paint in yours when they arrived! Enjoy your day! Hugs, Darnell

  16. Oh ... my ... ZIGness ... I need more crafty items like I need another hole in my head, but seeing your lovely creation makes me wonder if these ZIG markers can turn even me into a "so/so" colouring queen ;-) But then my Inner (more sane) voice says: NO ... you need skill like Kelly's to pass that off! LOL

  19. Oh Kelly!! This is lovely!! I had to do the same unwrapping chore with the 60 set and I STILL HAVE NOT USED THEM!! How bad is that? I love the vivid colors you used on these flowers and the blue outline. Beautiful design!
