Hello Crafters!
Well I've been on vacation all week. What have you been up to?
I'll have plenty of stories to share but today I just have good news.
Ready?
I'm thrilled to announce I am joining A Day For Daisies Design Team
I have been a huge fan of their stamps since I first started card making. They are the first digital company that I really fell in love with and they are the first place I go when I'm looking for something I don't have in a tangible stamp.
They do a fantastic challenge every week and while you must use A Day For Daisies image to win Tammy always generously offers a freebie up for you to play along with. How awesome is that?
I love good people. I love good companies.
This week's challenge is to use Newsprint. You can play along here.
Here we go . . .
I used a gorgeous stamp called Fairy Flowers. Like you didn't know there was going to be a flower on this card. I printed my image out on watercolor paper and masked the flower with Liquid Friskett. After it was dry I added a good amount of water to the right side and the middle. The ink from my printer does bleed a bit but I just soak it all up. Then I add a second coat of water. It usually doesn't bleed the second time. I used distress inks to create the watercolor background. Starting from the bottom right I added Twisted Citron, Mustard Seed, and Salty Ocean. I let it dry completely before adding the text.
I dug my Friend Definition background stamp from Hero Arts out of the drawer it was hiding in, blew off the dust, apologized profusely for never using it, and inked it up with Silver Lining Pure Color ink from WPlus9. When I inked it I concentrated on the left hand side and the middle then dabbed some away with a wet baby wipe to create some variation. Time to pull up the Liquid Friskett.
I colored the flowers with copics and outlined them with a black multiliner. I find this step especially important with digital stamps I've watercolored. Since that ink bleeds it's not exactly a crisp line. I used the Blessed die from WPlus9's Doddlebuds companions dies to cut out my sentiment. I mounted my panel on black cardstock with craft foam.
All done. :)
Thanks for stopping by!
Their stamps really are gorgeous. I wouldn't lie to you ;)
I hope you'll head over and play along with us.
XoXo
