Hello Crafters!
I have a bit of fun for you guys today! Welcome to Christine's Birthday Blog Hop!
Didn't know you were participating in a hop? It's cool I'm the first stop. You haven't missed anything :)
As most of you know I'm on the design team for Create A Smile. Christine Drogt is the owner and she is a very dear friend. Christine was the first person whoever sought me out to be on her team. Talk about a giant boost of self-confidence. She didn't stop there either. Over the years she's given me advice, talked me off the ledge when I wanted to quit, asked my opinion and straight listened to me complain about the most ridiculous stuff. Because that's what she does.
Being on a team with her isn't like having a "boss" it's being part of a family. She includes us in so many thing she doesn't have to and values each of us along with the things we have to say even if it's not what she thinks.
I'll cut it off here because it's a long hop but Christine please know I am so blessed to have you as my friend. I'm sending love and hugs xoxo. I hope you have the most wonderfully fantastical day. P.s. I'm pretty sure I made that word up.
Alright yo, it's going down for real . . .the idea behind this hop is that we all chose a card of Christine's to CASE.
That watercolor background makes me weak in the knees. I love how she cut around it to pop it up on dimensional adhesive. The umbrellas floating down are adorable and I'm always in love with white embossing on black. Always.
I used Peacock Feathers, Mermaid Lagoon, and Chipped Sapphire distress inks to create my background. Once the color was added I laid the Swirly Stencil on top and covered it with a large acrylic block. Then I added like 4 heavy books and let it dry. Once it's dry you can see the subtle pattern and I love it.
Why the books? Watercolor paper tends to warp and if the stencil isn't making contact with the paper it can't leave an impression. I cut around the background. I have no idea how she does this so perfectly all the time?! It was hard! Watercolor paper is thick dude.
I colored some balloons from Monster Party and the submarine from Underwater Love using my copics, I fussy cut them out and adhered them to my watercolor panel. The sentiment is from Make A Wish. I couldn't figure out a way to make it work with the black embossed sentiment grrr. Finally I just accepted it and stamped them in black. A few sequins finished it off.
Alright the stop on the hop is Marina. There's also a complete list if you get lost along the way. While you're out hopping around you could head over to Christine's blog and wish her a happy birthday too. I mean if you wanted . . . :)
Thanks for stopping by!
XoXo
