CASEing Genius: Debra James

Hello Crafters!

It's time for another Genius to be featured.
 I'm so excited to bring you  . . . .

I first saw Debra's wonderful work on Instagram and my socks were just blown off. I tripped over myself trying to hit the follow button quickly enough :) Seriously her coloring is beyond incredible. She's oh so sweet too! If you're craving some real eye candy head over to her blog, I dream of Colour, and you'll be in complete awe. I promise.

Let's get to know her a bit better . .

The Interview:

1. Who are you and where do you live?
My name is Debra James and I live in Perth, Western Australia in a suburb quite close to the beach. I can see the ocean from the top floor of my house if that counts.

2. How would you describe your style?
I create pretty much a clean and simple style, letting the image take the focal point of the card.

3. Name one product you're completely crushing on right now?
I'm pretty much crushing on a few products at the moment, My Misti.. no more crooked sentiments and ruining cards, YAY.. and loving colour- whether it be with my Copic Markers, Distress Inks or Watercolour pens...
4. What is was your first crafty purchase? Would you still buy it now?
My first craft product was a Creative Memories Guillotine Cutter.. I don't have that particular one any more but I still use a small guillotine to cut all my paper on..
Fun Stuff:

5. What is your current favorite song?
My favourite song/s at the moment are from Meghan Trainor.. Lips are Movin and All about that Bass.. good cleaning the house music, lol...
6. Who would play you in a movie?
I would love Meg Ryan to play me in a movie.
7. One random thing about you that people would never guess?
One Random thing some people might not know about me is.. I'm a clean and organising freak, Yes a little OCD at times- Ok all the time.

Remember that eye candy I was talking about . . .It's time

Oh my goodness these bright colors just make me smile. The shading she has on her hat and jacket are simply fantastic.

How cute is this?! I adore her scene. Plus that eye shadow is just the cherry on top. What a fun detail!!

Well Hello beautiful! This is such an awesome way to highlight an image. I love all the colors Debra chose to use. Leaving the stems gray really let the bloom shine. You know I love a white heat embossed sentiment!

The CASE:

I really loved Debra's second card and was heavily inspired by it. I used Isabelle loves Ice cream from Stamping Bella because she was similar in position to the sweet French girl Debra used. I drew in a bit of city scape to mimic her skyline from the same card. Debra used stitched panels on two of her cards and I wanted to incorporate those as well. I used a large panel from WPlus9's Sunshine Layers Dies. On her first card Debra added a bit of black border which I loved so I threw that in the mix too :) I had every intention of using the white sentiment heat embossed on black from her third card but my end result looked so much like a pretty little postcard I couldn't bring myself to add another layer. :)

If you are interested you can view the whole thing below.

In the video I couldn't remember the name of the Sentiment set I used. It's Wplus9's Fresh Picked.

Before I let you go . . .
