CASEing Genius: Lydia Evans

Hello Crafters!
After missing last week we are back on track with a new genius
It's Lydia Evans!
Lydia is another of my Instagram treasures. I was sucked in by one of her cards, clicked on her profile and found eye candy in copious amounts. She is amazingly talented in her ability to create a super clean and simple look or completely switch it up to lots of layers. Plus, she uses tons of florals. You know it's my weakness :) You can check out her fantastic projects on her blog, Lydia Evans Design. She also has a Youtube channel for those of you interested. I am in love with her accent <3
Let's learn all about her shall we . . .
The Interview:
1. Who are you and where do you live?
Hi there, I'm Lydia. I live in wet and windy North Wales in the UK.
2. How would you describe your style?
My style I would say is CAS. I do have a floral obsession, oh and gold. Sometimes my designs have a bit of a technique about them making them not so simple but there is always a clean look... well I hope there is anyways.
3. Name one product you're completely crushing on right now?
Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins! In all sizes but especially those little, tiny ones! I can't seem to put a card together without finishing it off with a couple of these beauties.
4. What is was your first crafty purchase? Would you still buy it now?
As I have always crafted since I was little I can't quite remember.... Although my first stampy buy was a couple of years ago, I bought some MME acrylic stamps (as I was a scrapbooker and wanted to take my pages a little further). I still have them now, I can't throw them away as they are still rather pretty. I wouldn't buy them again...... as I still have them (yep I'm kinda a hoarder).
Fun Stuff:
5. What is your current favorite song?
'Up Town Funk' , me and the littles love dancing around to this one....although we like the 'Dark Lord Funk', the Harry Potter version on YouTube better, if you are a Harry Potter fan you need to check it out.
6. Who would play you in a movie?
Sandra Bullock.
7. One random thing about you that people would never guess?
I am a huge fan of the Terry Pratchett Discworld books. They are so humorously well written I can read them over and over again without getting bored.
Basically, Lydia is the British version of me. BOOM. Mind. Blown. Seriously, I was giggling through her answers because at everyone I was like. "Nu uh! Me too!!" and if there is anyone who can make a card without the clear Pretty Pink Posh sequins it's only because you don't own them.
Ready for some spectacular eye candy?

Um. Hello love. Aren't you just the most beautiful thing ever? Those gorgeous watercolors and all those gold splatters. AND you know I love a little detail panel.

Such gorgeous coloring. I love how she added the strip of subtle pattern paper to the side. Oh the clear sequins.

This is so lovely! The ombre paired with the outline die. swoon. I love the bits of gold she added and how it hangs over the card edge.

The CASE:

I swiped the detail panel, colors (mostly) and used the same stamp set from Lydia's first card. I wanted to incorporate the watercoloring she used in her first and third cards too. The gold foil sentiment and splatters are from the first and second card. Last I added some black to bring in the third card.

***Edited*** I finally found time for the video. Check it out below. Videos not your thing? Just keep reading. It's all there :)

I Stamped and masked all the flowers onto watercolor paper I die cut with the Sunshine Layers die from WPlus9. The florals are from Winnie and Walter's Addie's Garden. I used distress inks to do a watercolor background. I wanted the ombre feel but with the gorgeous blue from her second card. I used Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers, Mermaid Lagoon, and Chipped Sapphire.

I used my copic markers to color the flower images. I went with bolder brighter colors than Lydia but that's just my preference :) I can't get it done with soft tones like she can. Once the coloring was done I added some gold splatters by mixing Gold Perfect Pearls with water. The sentiment was created by using a combination of the Doodlebuds stamps and Dies. I die cut the blessed in gold foil and heat embossed just a portion of the sentiment onto black cardstock in white.

I did film the making of this card but I didn't have any time to edit it. If I have time maybe I'll get it up tomorrow. Life is what it is and right now mine is super busy. Ugh.

Thanks for visiting me!
don't forget to head over and get some inspiration from the fantastic Lydia!

XoXo
