CASEing Genius: Vicki Dutcher

Hello Crafters!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Mine didn't turn out like I expected but it was still full of blessings.
This week should be amazing, starting with this week's incredible Genius . . .

It's Vicki Dutcher

I first spotted Vicki's projects throughout blogland in various challenges. Her stuff is just so good. SO. good. Her style varies from varies from clean and layered to super clean and simple. The best thing though? She punches you in the face with bright color but in like the best way. It's almost like if a punch in the face turned into butterflies, rainbows and puppy kisses when it hit your face. I am always in love with her use of color. The cherry on top of this colorful cake? Vicki is super sweet and completely supportive of other crafters. We are all incredibly busy, Vicki, included but I see her popping up around blogland leaving bits of love and I love her for that. You can head over to Vicki's blog, All I Do Is Stamp, to get your daily dose.

Learning time . . .

The Interview:

1. Who are you and where do you live?
I am a part time Starbucks Barista .  I just started back up again from a year sabbatical. (This is one of the perks from Starbucks after 10 years with the company.  I made it 15 and decided I was ready for a year off.)
Wow, did this past year show me a whole new perspective of full retirement -- I wasn't ready, and returned to work.  I really missed my customers!  I live in Arizona and love everything about it! [Even the 110 temps we get] It's the best move my husband and I made during our 25 years of marriage.  My only son is in the Navy and is currently stationed in Bahrain.  I have been stamping since my son was about 2 -- it gave me something to do while he slept.  I absolutely adore this hobby!

2. How would you describe your style?
My style has developed down to CAS.  I use to go for all the layers and sketches, but I fell in love with clean and simple, with need I say, -- vivid colors! The brighter the better!  I am also known for my love of turquoise.

3. Name one product you're completely crushing on right now?
My favorite product has to be my MISTI and my Silhouette cutter. (I know, that is 2, but they just go together so well) When I learned using my Silhouette to make cuts out of ANY stamp I own, and then using the negative as a template with MISTI - well let's just say my scissors are getting really dusty. :)

4. What is was your first crafty purchase? Would you still buy it now?
Like probably 99% of stampers, I first bought from Stampin Up -- now, there are so many excellent stamp companies out here in blogland, that I haven't shopped SU in many years.

Fun Stuff:

5. What is your current favorite song?
Adele is the artist, I am not sure of the name, but I jam on it driving to work.

6. Who would play you in a movie?
Sandra Bullock -- I love her versatility.  I think she is an amazing actress, and a very classy women.

7. One random thing about you that people would never guess?
I am directionally challenged -- I got lost while driving all the time.

Oooh a year off? Jealous!

Are you ready to be blown away? Hold onto your socks.

Oh my goodness gracious, That metallic blue green. Tone on tone but with so much dimension. Gah.

Coffee, flowers, bright colors, It's the perfect card.

I love how simply stunning this one is. That neon green is stunning with the simple black stamping.

The CASE:

I had to use that blue metallic from her first card. HAD TO. Mine is more blue than turquoise but it's close enough for government work. The card layout came from the first card too.  I picked up the flowers and leaves along with their colors from Vicki's second card.  I puffy heart pinks and oranges together. Paper Smooches Best Buds set was perfect for this! I snagged a bit of lime green and black from the third card as well as the watercolor splatters.

I hope you guys enjoy the video!

I know it was a little long but watercoloring AND copics take time :)

Here's a close up for you. I know it can be hard to see the detail with all that glorious shimmer. Not a bad problem to have :)

I hope you'll go visit Vicki and leave her some love. Bring an extra pair of socks :)

Thanks so much for dropping by!

XoXo
