Hello Crafters!
Happy Monday!
It's an oxymoron I know.
I spent this weekend off work but crazy busy. Life is just like that sometimes. It was all good quality family time so I can't complain too much but don't read this post too carefully I'm awfully tired.
One reason to be happy it's Monday is we have a new genius . . .
It's Sharyn Polesel!!
When I did my one year celebration back in October Sharyn's blog was one of the blogs recommended to me. Thank goodness Barbara pointed me in her direction or I might have never been introduced! Sharyn's style is definitely a variety of layers but she blends them all just beautifully. She frequently uses fun bright colors and lots of gorgeous elements. You can see her work on her blog, My Crafty Place.
Let's get to it .. . .
The Interview:
1. Who are you and where do you live?
My name is Sharyn Polesel and I am a wife, mother and grandmother. I married my high school sweetheart, and we will be celebrating our 43rd anniversary in January. I discovered stamping in the summer of 2012, and I have been in love with it ever since. I have lived in central Indiana for most of my life, except for two years when my husband was in the Air Force. Indiana will always be home.....love the changing seasons!
2. How would you describe your style?
I love my layers so I think I lean towards clean and layered, although, I am always open to trying new things.
3. Name one product you're completely crushing on right now?
I recently purchased my first Big Shot and I am loving it! It cuts so much easier than my last cutting machine.
4. What is was your first crafty purchase? Would you still buy it now?
Gosh, I'm going back a ways to answer this, but I guess when I was scrapbooking I purchased several pairs of decorative edge scissors. No, I would not buy them now.
Fun Stuff:
5. What is your current favorite song?
Currently my favorite song is anything Christmas. I am a hopeless Christmas music addict.
6. Who would play you in a movie?
This is with much wishful thinking, but I would pick Sandra Bullock. lol
7. One random thing about you that people would never guess?
I took cake decorating classes so I could make fun birthday cakes for my kids when they were little. It turned into a home based business. I finally gave it up when it was taking up more of my time than I wanted to give it. Also, an incident with a matchbook car flying through the air and embedding itself in the side of an anniversary cake I was making. lol
I'm not surprised at all that she did cake decorating. Crafty people are crafty people all the time :) Also, wouldn't we all pick Sandra Bullock?! I'm mean, I would. She's hysterical.
Eye candy time . . .
How cute are these flamingos? I love the varied shades of pink with that sweet vellum sentiment.
It's all about the flower. That thing is stunning. I love how the soft blue plaid offers some interest while complimenting that fantastic bloom.
What a gorgeous smorgasbord of beautiful stamping. I love the complimentary colors in her Christmas bouquet.
The CASE:
I loved the flourish background in Sharyn's first card so I decided to recreate it with a stencil. I chose a soft blue similar to the one Sharyn did in her second card. Of course I also snatched up that beautiful yellow flower. I decided to do a bouquet like the third card along with the right hand banner for my sentiment. In all of Sharyn's cards she used a white circle as a backdrop Since I 'm more of a clean and simple girl I recreated it by only adding my ink blending/stenciling to the outer edges of my card.
I did do a video for you guys but it's still in editing (remember where I said I was sleepy. lease forgive me) It should be up this afternoon. Yeah got caled into work early. So video tonight? Maybe. :/ In the meantime I hope you'll enjoy checking out the card and stop back later!
Thanks so much for visiting and do go over and leave Sharyn some love :)
