Newton's Nook March Release: Newton Poppins?

Hello Crafters!

I'm back to celebrate the very last set of Newton's Nook March release and it's adorable!
Like you expected anything else? ;)

This Newton is dreaming of London. I had such a hard time choosing between using the cutie guard on duty or that adorable umbrella! Eventually the umbrella won out because I couldn't shake this card idea. In the end, I'm glad I didn't!

Newton Poppins anyone?
Seriously, It's all I could see when  I looked at that umbrella.

I started by stamping Newton Poppins (yep, I'm saying that the whole time.) on my card base and then masking her and a circle for the moon. I used various colors of distress ink to create my sky. To add sme stars and some shimmer I splattered on a little bit of shimmer spray. I wasn't working on watercolor paper so I was careful to only add a little bit. After that was dry I removed my masks and kept stamping.

The skyline was created by first stamping Big Ben. I knew I wanted that to be the foremost building. I masked everything as I went. To create the rest of the skyline I switched it up between stamping the bottom of Big Ben, the door, and the bottom of the door. Since this is a night time scene it didn't really matter what the details were since you wouldn't be able to see them.

I colored the images with my copics being careful to add my darkest shading to the middle front. Since the objects are back lit by the moon their lightest shades would be on the outside edges.

For Newton Poppins I used a journaling pen to draw in a white flower on her hat just like Mary Poppins. I kept all the traditional colors of Mary Poppins too including the red scarf and white gloves. I added a few white gel pen dots in the sky to emphasize the stars.

This card was tons of fun to make. Don't worry while the release is over my guest design spot isn't :)
I'll be back with more Newton's Nook later this month. In the meantime, you can head over to the Newton's Nook blog and soak up a ton of inspiration from the team!

Thanks for visiting!
