Hello Crafters!
There was a drought and now it's pouring lol. I'm not trying to inundate you honest I just have all these cards I'm sitting on that I love :)
With all the social media outlets out there now I'm not even sure how many of you stop by the ole' blog anymore but I'm in need of opinions.
Don't worry I'm willing to bribe you for them.
Oooh blog candy.
What do you need to do in order to have the chance to win these super winter sets from Simon Says Stamp and Sunny Studios? Let us not forget the Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Pen.
So I made this card . . .
The entire card is Copic colored which means the video is soooo long. I know that some people want all the details so they don't mind long. However, when these full Copic cards come up I am wondering is it better to do one super long video or two shorter ones? The first would be just the background and the second would be the characters. They'll still be plenty long I'm sure. Coloring takes a while :)
***After reading several comments I decided to do this one as one long video. We'll see how it goes over. I'll also still be taking into account future comments***
What do you think?
Let me know in the comments below by Sunday December 4th 11:59 pm and I'll pick a random winner for the goodies!!
If you absolutely cannot wait one minute longer for another video I have a new one up over one Create A Smile Blog you can check out showing this card
Thanks so much for stopping by and helping me out!

Kelly, I would be okay either way. But personally I like one video cause I am always too excited to see the finished card. I love your videos and am totally inspired by your coloring. Thank you for sharing your talent with us all.
ReplyDeleteI like one video, but some crafters work and their time is very valuable. I would just speed up the video when you're coloring
ReplyDeleteI vote for one long video, I truly enjoy your videos very much and always learn so much from you. You take the time to explain what and why you are doing what you are doing so well I really appreciate that and you are awesome inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI think you should do 2 videos... one of the characters and one of the background like you said.. if you notice in your YouTube analytics it says the average watch time and a lot of people don't have patients so they skip a lot.. I like to watch the whole thing, you never know what you could miss!!! Xo
ReplyDeleteLove your videos. Having one long video is ok with me, but either way works for me since I'll be watching which ever way you decide. 😊
ReplyDeleteLove your videos too. I think one long video would work best but I'd watch either way. Love both the cards too!
ReplyDeleteYou know what I'm gonna say. I'll take ya any way I can get ya! And that card is ADORABLE!!!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute Kelly. I love your skating bears.
ReplyDeleteI prefer one long video, there is a pause button after all, not a big fan of people who split up their videos especially if they wait an entire week to upload part 2, I understand it's less pressure because 'one video idea will take 2 videos so I dont have to come up with a new video idea so soon' but I will already have forgotten what the background video would have said by the time the character one is loaded. I know first world problems but for someone like me with concentration issues one longer video is much easier, if I dont understand/forget a reference its easy to skip back etc.
ReplyDeleteI always prefer the long videos. Especially when it comes to Copic colored videos. There is just something about seeing the whole thing put together.
ReplyDeleteHey Kelly -- One or two videos - no differentiation me I watch all your videos and enjoy your creative process, instruction, and the ahhhmazing results! Thanks for sharing your artistry :) Your teal blue door blew my socks off into the middle of next week!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute scene!
ReplyDeleteOne long video is more than ok with me. And you can always add timestamp links in the description, so people can watch the part they are interested in.
I think two shorter videos please Kelly - sometimes my time is at a premium and two shorter views would be easier for me to manage
ReplyDeleteBlessings
Maxine
First of all...that's a beautiful card! And my jaw just about hit the floor when you said the background was copics colored!! I am amazed! The detail is incredible!
ReplyDeleteI think you should do two videos. It's good to break things up!
I prefer one long video. That way I don't have to start another video and if I need a break I can pause it ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks again for all the great ideas and coloring techniques! And for a great giveaway!
I like the idea of 2 videos!
ReplyDeleteThat Copic colouring is sooooo good! Love the card. As for the videos I would say to split them into two parts please. :)
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your videos but I have kids so I can't sit through a long video. I prefer 2 videos, so I can learn without being interrupted by my kiddos :)
ReplyDeleteLove the card.
ReplyDeleteI like part one and two video idea.
I have trouble finishing long videos. Two videos would let me come back later to finish it without having to remember where I'm up to. ;-) (I have the kid-interruption problem and the I'm-late-for-work problem).
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card BTW. I would prefer 1 long video so that it can be continuous. If you will be playing music during the coloring, maybe you can check in on us with a "hi guys are you still there?"
ReplyDeleteLove the card! I enjoy your videos and always learn from them. I prefer one video. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteWow, Kelly, that Copic card is drop-dead GORGEOUS!!! Would love to see how you colored this! To me, 1 video is as good as 2 ... If I don't want to see the whole thing I ususally just skip forward.
ReplyDeleteLove, Rosali
Hey Kelly! Excited you're back! One video works for me but I am thinking you should probably do two shorter ones to get the most views. I don't understand how anyone thinks a great crafting video can be too long but...and also some crafty people may not copic color, like my mom, but can truly appreciate the other part. That was a long comment lol!
ReplyDeleteNo video is too long for me but go with whatever is easier for you. We can always pause a video if we need to. If we make it easier for you we get more videos, right?
ReplyDeleteFirst off your card is beautiful. Your backround is amazing. We love your videos whether they are 2 short or 1 long. There is always the pause button to go back to it later. Thank you for sharing your beautiful creations. :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute card! I would prefer 2 videos rather than one long one.
ReplyDeleteI would have to agree with most that one long video is great. I always like to see the whole project. If I am busy, I come back to watch the rest later.
ReplyDeleteI've never been a video watcher (is that a term?), but I became one with yours. Your techniques blow me away! I'd prefer one video to capture the full card in one place. Thanks for sharing what you do! I'd never ever ever have been able to figure out how you make black sentiments show up over all those beautiful colors without watching the video!
ReplyDeleteThe card is gorgeous! Long video is fine unless two short ones are easier for editing for you. We can always come back to it if we can't finish it all :)
ReplyDeleteI would prefer one long video, then I can go back and forth to be certain I've watched everything throughout the process in one fell swoop!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this very generous opportunity. I adore your creations!!
Blessings,
Jeanette
Thank you for the giveaway! I say two short videos for sure. For some reason I am willing to watch 2 short videos but I will never watch a long one. Even if I know the 2 videos equal a long one. I do it on Jennifer McGuire's blog all the time! :)
ReplyDeleteFirst let me say, I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS. Seriously. LOVE. I love the humor you interject into them so much! I appreciate as much detail as I can possibly get in videos, because I want to learn all your secrets and tricks to making such beautiful cards. I'd prefer 1 video, but I think everyone else is asking for 2. I'm good with whatever, just as long as there is video!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm not gonna be much help because it doesn't matter to me...1 long or 2 short...I'm gonna watch them anyways! :) Your videos are great and you are a hoot! I think the shorter ones may be easier to upload and for folks with older PC/laptops...they may run smoother. I don't know, I'm no expert...
ReplyDeleteI think one long one (the second video may get lost if viewers don't get to it at all and its stats drop - from a production stand point). From a viewer's standpoint-they can always move forward in the video if they're not interested in a particular part of the video. You can always speed it up where coloring/technique is the same. Love your coloring and would watch the entire thing though-1 or 2 videos! 😘
ReplyDeleteKelly, thanks for sharing your talent with us - your cards are always amazing (and your humor is fabulous too!). I would prefer 2 shorter videos. Thanks for asking!
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly! I would do 2 videos. I don't really care about long ones but I know a lot of people do... so you probably go better with 2. I will watch anyway everything :-))) hugs, Tina
ReplyDeleteI would prefer 2 videos. it would be less overwhelming for me personally. cute card!
ReplyDeleteLove the bears and cute girl, but the effect of the coloured ice is gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteHi im the same when i make a card the video is always far too long but i prefer one video so I just end up speeding up the process so that people dont get bored half way through, also i love the magic of a sped up video. I hope this help!:-) steph from steph made it for you
ReplyDeleteI'm going to say two videos. For the beginning colorist, it would be nice to have both pieces, but others are used to coloring critters, but have absolutely no clue when it comes to making a background! Plus, for longer videos, it would be nice to have a clear break that's easy to come back to at a later time. Just my little opinion though.
ReplyDeleteHi, I'd like to see two videos, even tho I'd probably watch them one after the other, I think 2 is better. Wow, your MFT card and coloring is so cute! AND beautiful! Thanks
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly, I will take your videos anyway I can. I love to see how you design and create your beautiful cards. Really appreciate all the time and effort you share with us.
ReplyDeleteI love to see the long video, because I'm a details girl like that. Love your work Kelly!
ReplyDeleteI don't mind long videos, especially when the result turns out so well. Gorgeous colouring and shading.
ReplyDeleteI love the look of Copic coloring but lack the patience to color for that long, so I totally feel your pain on the long video! Two shorter videos would line up better with how I personally use YouTube, but a longer video would be fine if it means less work for you in terms of uploading. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love watching you colour, especially with your Copic markers, so I would love the longer video! It's just so much easier to watch one video.
ReplyDeleteI think two! I like the idea of background in one. You are so good at crating backgrounds with very little supplies I always love to see what you come up with. Makes me want to stretch and try it myself!
ReplyDeleteIncredible! I get your posts to my email so I always see your blog... Cough cough... Stalker... Cough cough hehehe! Anywho I don't mind the long videos if I don't want to see a part I can just fast forward, besides I love all your stories too!
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly I could sit and watch you colour for hours, so whether it's one long video or two shorter ones won't matter to me - I'll just watch two on the bounce! I personally like to look at still images on blogs like yours, Kristina's, Jennifer's etc as I like the links to products used and the additional text that you can fit on a blog post. Having said that, I follow on Instagram too!
ReplyDeleteOk here is the compromise and since I don't make videos I don't know if it's possible. Can you say at the beginning assuming you do voice over that the "second" part starts at a certain time so if people want to fast forward to that for some reason they have that option? I personally think do what is easiest for you!!! Yes we are all enjoying them but you are the one doing the work and making them!!
ReplyDeleteI like the one long video because I can watch it seamslessly. Love your card and can't wait for the video!
ReplyDeleteI like one video...under 15 minutes. I enjoy watching the process and can gather enough techniques by watching or hearing a few short tips.
ReplyDeleteI'd say one video sped up! :) it's a beautiful card! Xx
ReplyDeleteI like one video...people can fast forward if they don't want to see everything. I like to see everything b/c I'm still a newbie.
ReplyDeleteI think two videos would be better that way you could watch one or both.
ReplyDeleteKelly, I am going to vote for 2 videos...why...well I am hoping you'll cut/edit less if you have two videos as opposed to one...and the more we get of you the better!
ReplyDeleteYour copic coloring skills are amazing! I think I personally would like two shorter videos :) that way if I don't have enough time to watch one long video I could come back and watch the second. :)
ReplyDeleteYour coloring is amazing! I vote for 2 videos. I have a short attention span to watch one long video even if I can speed it up. With 2 videos I have a choice of just the background or just the characters. I can also come back and easily watch just the part I'm interested in such as coloring the bear.
ReplyDeleteI prefer two videos. It is always fun to watch you color!
ReplyDeleteI guess I would choose 2 shorter ones. That way you could choose to watch one part at a later time or maybe you only want to watch some part of the coloring not all.
ReplyDeleteI would say just one video. If the background is all primarily one color, show part of it then cut away to something else. Don't speed it up so fast people can't see what you're doing just for the sake of a shorter video. On a card like you did above, show coloring in one of the bears but not all of the bears. If you're doing the same technique on several areas but different colors just show some of it. You're doing the same thing over and over, people will get the idea. Try to keep it around 15-20 minutes. With a coloring video, unless you're showing me some really cool tricks, I'll get bored and not watch all of it. More info than you probably want but I'm just trying to be constructive. Cute card though!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness I found your blog after seeing you over at Simon Says yeah! I love all your videos, long or short so whatever is easiest for you to manage. Secretly I prefer one....if I know it's a long video I just make a cup of tea and sit back watch and enjoy. If I do run out of time I just hit pause or look at where I got up to and come back later, no big deal. Have a lovely day. Cheers Donna Z :)
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly,
ReplyDeleteI always read your blog more than other forms of social media. I really enjoyed your three part coloring videos of Suzy Platamura's (sp?) design where you added more detail each time. When you have long Copic cards, splitting them up would be a great. However, I don't know how much extra work that makes for you. Love your videos, short or long!
Hi Kelly. I love the card! Thanks for sharing it. As someone who has limited data I think splitting the video would be great.
ReplyDeleteI think you should keep one video for the whole process of a card.-Heather C.
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly,
ReplyDeleteI really like the long video where you show all the techniques you use.
So a long video is no problem at ask for me.
Maybe write under the long video when you start with copic coloring, so people can forward the video until they arrive at the coloring part.
Gorgeoys card Kelly ,I enjoy the long videos because I love your colouring and you give us so much information as you go. TFS xx
ReplyDeleteKelly this is absolutely AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteAs I have told you before I often do "Kelly Marathons" so a long video does NOT put me off a bit! Short ones are fine too (all depends on what you need to do.) Either way I seldom miss one and if I do, I'll catch it on "marathon day!" LOL
Thanks for the chance to win the goodies, I am especially excited to have a chance to win the Spectrum Noir Sparkle pen as I cannot buy one in my area and I don't order online:(
As for the last video....already saw it and it was beautiful!
First off your video tutorials are amazing, I love tuning in and getting inspired. I actually did my first copic background the other day, keeping your tips in mind. My personal opinion is one video. Once your into the video and the tips I would hate for it to be stopped in the middle.
ReplyDeleteI ALWAYS learn something from watching your videos. I like one video, I'm afraid I might miss a part if you separate them! However you choose to do them, I appreciate all the effort that goes into them. :)
ReplyDeleteI am always amazed at how quickly the videos feel like they go! It's so fun watching the process and listening to the "lessons" that 15-20-25 minutes really feels like 5!!! Your videos are fantastic and I like one video personally. I think the process would be somewhat broken up or lost if it was two videos...but you could always try it and see how it goes :) maybe it would be just as great?
ReplyDelete2 videos would my first choice, but either way I'll watch. I am easily bribed!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy the long videos and learning all I can. You make Copic coloring look so easy however, when I try, mine don't turn out as well. The more I watch you and Sandy Allnock, the more inspired I become.
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly!
ReplyDeleteYour cards are always amazing! I enjoy watching your videos either way... which ever way is easier for your to edit and upload is fine. You are so talented! Thank you for sharing your creative process! :)
For these scenes I prefer one long video,
ReplyDelete.
I prefer the long video because then I see the the entire process for the scene
ReplyDeleteI like watching the entire card in one video.
ReplyDeleteWOW your card and coloring are absolutely wonderful!!! Always love your blog and inspiration:) I prefer one longer video.
ReplyDeletelonger videos take ages to render and upload. So whatever is better for you ;-) I sometimes split them in coloring and assembly, but if someone doesn;t want to sit through it, it is what it is, personally I feel I can skip certain parts if I think i "got" it ;-) your card is super cute btw and fab coloring
ReplyDeleteOne long video
ReplyDeleteI like it as one long video. Please keep them long and don't speed up your coloring because you are teaching us so much more explaining it and getting to watch it in real time. Your coloring is absolutely beautiful. Thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteI prefer one long video, but I will watch either way! :)
ReplyDeleteI don't mind if the video is long. I prefere to see all the process, but you have to see what works best for you. I don't know which way is the best for edit the videos. But we will watch you (Freddie Mercury reference) anyway!
ReplyDeleteKelly, I prefer 1 video, I personally think you lose momentum with having 2 and feel it throws you! Thanks for sharing I love your video tutorials x
ReplyDeleteI really prefer 1 video. I like seeing how the hole card is made. When it's divided in two video's I'll probeble ony watch one of them, mostly the coloring of the images.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your videos but think I prefer one video even if it's long. You are so helpful and prepared all the time so keep on as they say hugs
ReplyDeleteI laughed when you said this was a really long video. I watch 3 hour ustreams so a 24 minute video is not long to me. One video would be my preference. thanks as always for sharing.
ReplyDeleteFirstly I LOVE your card, incredible like always! I enjoy a long video especially when its copic related. Even if I have to watch with intervals I still prefer a longer video. To me 20 - 25 minutes is the perfect amount of time to relax and learn from fellow crafters. Especially with your talent and technique skills. Thanks for sharing and Thank You for the opportunity to win! :D
ReplyDeleteHey Kelly!! I seriously don't mind the longer videos!! If someone is just watching for the background you just pause the video or if your watching the copic coloring just skip forward!! On to the card...this is an awesome card!! The colors you chose are wonderful!! (I love bright colors also!) the little girl is just darling and the chubby little bear are so cute!! I really do love how you done the background...very cool to watch it comes together!! Thank you so much Kelly for sharing your art with us!! Your a great teacher and you explain everything so well!! 💜
ReplyDeleteIt depends on the card to me. I work during the week and unable to sit and watch long video on coloring, so 2 videos would be better. But if the coloring is short than 1 is fine. Either way I love your video's so if I do not have time during the week I try to watch it on the weekend.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely one video...I watch the whole thing even though I don't even own one single Copic marker (yet)! Love these videos!
ReplyDeleteI love your videos! I am new to card making and want to learn all I can--I don't mind the length at all. I usually watch them a couple of times (at least). So I will watch them regardless of the length! Love, love, love them!
ReplyDeleteI will watch your videos no matter how you do them! I just love them! I learn so much from you that I am glued to your videos with a pad and pen to take coloring notes! Thank you for telling us why you do what you do when coloring! I love this Bears are Besties card! The colors are gorgeous that you chose! Thank you for all you do!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your loooong videos! As a relatively new Copic owner, your video tutorials are AMAZING and I learn so much from you. Thank you so very much, Kelly, for posting them. :-) Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI didn't think this video was too long. Your videos should be as long or short as they need to be. You did a series a while back Copic coloring a large sentiment - each time adding more dimension. I thought breaking that up into a series was perfect. I can't believe how beautifully this card came together. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteDon't know if I'll be much help, but depending on how much "watching time" I have, shorter videos are great. When I have more time, I don't mind a long video. See, not much help here! ;) I love your videos either way! :)
ReplyDeleteDon't know if I'll be much help, but depending on how much "watching time" I have, shorter videos are great. When I have more time, I don't mind a long video. See, not much help here! ;) I love your videos either way! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly! Thank you for the bribe giveaway, haha! I love your videos. I don't even notice they are long because you always give so much great information and really useful tips. I have begun challenging myself more & more in my coloring & have even started attempting some simple backgrounds and one sunset! I wouldn't change a thing!
ReplyDeleteI personally prefer the one long video, but I would would still watch both if you broke it up in to two.
ReplyDeleteIt's your channel and your videos, make them as long as you want. That's what we have a fast forward button for correct. I've learned much from watching you, thanks for an opportunity in your giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI check out my (long) list of fav blogs every week but I also check out Instagram. I love both! I'll watch long or short vids - just do you!
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly, I'd watch either way. But if I have to pick would say one video, that lets you do the card however you want and if I get interrupted (we are talking two kids in house here) then I just pause it and come back later. Thanks for sharing with us!
ReplyDeleteKelly I enjoy watching you color and create your cards. The length of the video is not an issue for me as I can pause the video when I have things I need to do. I love how you talk through how and why your color each area. Thanks so much for your inspiration.
ReplyDeleteKelly,I don't really care how long the videos are. I really enjoy watching you colour. It always seems as though you aren't going to get the colours together but they always end up looking fantastic. I just wish that I had your talent for colouring, I know practice makes perfect, but well. I can't wait to see the next video, so thank you.:-) :-) :-) xxx
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly,
ReplyDeleteI'm one of your newer followers having found you by putting in colouring in on the search bar a few weeks ago and i just love to watch you at work. You say that you are not a professional artist, well i disagree as your work and the intricacy that you go into with each new project is a joy and i understand oh so much more now since i started watching you than i ever knew before. I love your video's and for me i loved this long one with the wee girl and the bears playing hookie from hibernation to go out and play on the ice, but it is what is best for you and we will go along with your decision but to me it going into parts is a bit like waiting a whole week for to see what happens in the favourite soap opera. I know you would be putting both up at the one time but that is how it makes me think. Thank you for sharing your stunning talent with us all and for being honest with us so that we can make different mistakes. Have a good day flower, love from Scotland
I learn so much from your videos and I definitely don't mind that they are long. I love watching you color and your attention to detail helps me learn so much. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteClarity in your explanation of your process is what drew me to your videos, therefore I don't mind how long your videos are. To see a card from start to finish is what I enjoy most. Love your work .......
ReplyDeleteI'm okay with the long video but I also think two shorter videos if they are loaded at the same time would work. Then if someone really only want to see how you did the background they could choose that video but really whatever is easier for you to produce, I know it's a very time consuming process. I appreciate your talent and that you are willing to share with us.
ReplyDeleteI would rather just watch one long video. Your card is adorable!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute ice-skating card and the snowflake one is lovely! I enjoyed both videos and greatly appreciate your sharing how to do shading and color combos. I lean towards one video to see everything from start to finish. Thanks for all the tips!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your copic coloring videos. You details and actual real time coloring help so much. One long video is fine with me or whichever is easier for you to do.
ReplyDeleteKelly I love the long videos, I enjoy sitting down with you and enjoy my coffee and relaxing while learning from you
ReplyDeleteUpnurse at aol dot Com
Kelly,
ReplyDeleteI love your videos; your humor sounds like mine! Love your talented copic skills and your nails always ROCK❣️
One video is my preference but I'm thinking you should do what you want. It's your channel and you should do what you want to.... I say in my singing voice!
I really don't mind watching you either way, but if I was to pick, I would say short, as long as they are released at the same time Sometimes the longer ones slow up the reception for what ever reason...
ReplyDeleteI prefer one long video and I Iike to see all the coloring. Love all your videos. So inspiring.
ReplyDeleteKelly, I just love your long videos! I love watching all the details and techniques! I learn so much and you give such great tips and inspiration!
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly, I really don't mind if they are long or short video's, so sometimes you have to make a project have to be longer version than others that can be shorter, it all depends on the project...! Gorgeous cards Kelly, thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI really love the long videos because I become submerged n your creative mojo . Those incidental comments you make along the way really help me . Your so relatable , I can watch your process all day long 😆😆😆😆.
ReplyDeleteI don't really have a preference. Long or short, doesn't matter. lol
ReplyDeleteHello Kelly, I like having the longer video, simply because I don't have to look for the second or part 2 of the original. I love your work, so really what a boils down to is what is easier for you. Thank you for asking.
ReplyDeleteElaine
Hi Kelly, my preference is one video, doesn't matter the length. I get so enthralled with your coloring and am so entertained with your talking that it goes by fast anyway. I'll be happy with whichever way you go, as the need dictates with each card. I just love your videos and creations, and know that I'm in for something good when you pop up in my inbox! = ) Thanks for sharing your talent with us and also for the chance to win some goodies!
ReplyDeleteI love to sit down with a cup of tea and watch your long videos, taking away as much information as I can. So, please, keep with the long videos. PS: Just looked outside and it is snowing.Seattle weather!
ReplyDeleteLove your longer videos, you are an inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI'm not that great with understanding shadows and mixing and coloring and all that, so I love watching your long videos, they are soothing, I love the chatting, I love watching your images seem to come to life right before my eyes. Longer is better, size does matter, lol!!!
ReplyDelete
