Hello Crafters!
It's still snowing here.
Not like cute movie snow. Full blown "I'm hibernating" snow.
At least I don't have to make excuses for barricading myself in my craft room.
That also means I have plenty of time to hop along today.
Welcome to the Simon Says Stamp Friends Release Blog Hop.
You should have arrived from the incredibly talented Amy Rysavy.
If you're just stopping in make sure you head back to the beginning at the Simon Says Stamp Blog.
You don't want to miss out on your chances to win!
Simon Says Stamp is generously giving away $25 to one commentor from EVERY blog on the hop.
Whoop Whoop!
Also, this release is fantastic so you won't want to miss any of the projects created with it.
You can view the entire collection here or shop below
Business is squared away.
It's card time :)
Another Rainbow.
Sorry not sorry.
Honestly, I started out with the idea that I would try something different....I make the same things all the time....blah blah blah...
One layer cards, rainbow watercolors and copic markers (oh my) make me happy.
It is what it is. I did start trying to do some controlled watercolor with specific placement and about five minutes in I was just like why are you forcing yourself to do this?
So I didn't.
I added clean water to the entire heart and then dropped in a rainbow of Distress Oxides. Did some spatters, some perfect pearls.
Guess what? I love it :)
I added some extra color with my copics then busted out the white gel pen to add a few interesting elements. Outline the whole thing and stamped my sentiment.
You can watch the card start to finish in the video below
I hope you are inspired by my project but more than anything I hope you walk away with this.
You do you.
Your projects will never be more beautiful than when you are using the products and techniques you love.
The next stop on the hop is the amazing Suzy Plantamura.
If you get lost along the way the entire hop list is here
Thanks for dropping in!
Stay warm and make things you love :)
P.S. I have another rainbow card using products from this release here. AND I have my own giveaway going on here.

ReplyDeleteI agree with you, Kelly! Do what makes you happy and your cards will be YOU! This card is SO beautiful and SO you!
ReplyDeleteLove this card! I live in Toledo and it's definitely yucky outside. Freezing rain, sleet, and then snow. Yep, guess I will be staying inside today too.
ReplyDeleteI agree about doing what makes you happy. Problem is, what makes me happy is watercoloring & I am just not good at it which subdues my feeling of happiness when I've attempted it on a card. Oh well, practice, practice. (I'm impatient with myself.) Your techniques are wonderful as is the card.
ReplyDeleteGORGEOUS GORGEOUS GORGEOUS!!!! Love the bright colors...makes me happy!
ReplyDeleteLove your card. The background center heart Stamp is gorgeous. Thanks so much for sharing

ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Kelly!!
ReplyDeleteKelly, I love watching every one of your videos. You just amaze me. But I have a question. Do you have a background in art? You are truly a professional and I am just curious if there is a background somewhere. Either way, don't stop what you are doing. It makes my jaw drop every time, AND I love your stories. Just like having coffee with you at my kitchen table!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful Kelly!! I would NEVER get tired of seeing rainbow colored cards from you or anyone else!! I just love all the bright rainbow colors, they make me smile & they are cheerful!! Also I've heard the same saying from another card maker about doing what you like to do instead of trying what everybody else is....truer words were never spoken!! I don't know if this is where I'm supposed to talk about random acts of kindness, but I make cards & donate them to children's hospitals.
ReplyDeleteOh WOW!!! This is STUNNING!!
ReplyDeleteSo colorful and FUN!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card as always. You do not do the same technique on every card and even if you did I’d learn something new. I’m fascinated watching you and listening to your stories. Thank you again for sharing your love of card making.
ReplyDeleteTwo minutes into your video and I am hooked! What a great technique to create that heart mask as you did! I wouldn't have thought of that! Love your card and coloring! Thank you for sharing! I too love to watercolor paint with the distress oxides! It is definitely different from painting with regular pigments, but a wonderful media to paint with with a lovely different end result!

ReplyDeleteYour way with color blows me away!
ReplyDeleteLove the colors. I’m just learning and really appreciate all the ideas I can gather.
ReplyDeletePretty card! Love the bright rainbow colors!
ReplyDeleteThis has made me think of coloring in a new way. I always think that i have to color in spots individually. But I LOVE what you did. And it's easier :)
ReplyDeleteI thank you so much for your words of wisdom at the end. I watch enough to have a clue about what the trends are, but am finding that I don't really care so much. None of my friends who get my cards have no idea if a stamp is new or old! I love watching you color, and I love that you show me how to fix those inevitable mistakes. And I love your happy colors, with a touch of black to make them stand out!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, and who doesn't love rainbows!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful card as usual! I'm with you Kelly--do you! It's nice to try new techniques, but doing what you like and what you're good at, always brings the best results. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI make a lot of cards and sometimes I do sell them but 95% I give them out to people who needs them. For Christmas of 2017 I sent a bunch out to my old classmates cause I felt the need to show some kindness when we went to school together. I know is was ages ago, more than 40 years! Wow that was a long time ago. I love your cards and I knew it but I never read about you on your blog cause I love your cards, but anyway I new you were a police person at some time of your life. Your husband is one lucky dude to have a sweet wife and son! Thanks again and have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteSuch amazing colors. I like how you did it in the end. Love that background stamp.
ReplyDeleteI love watching your videos and listening to your stories! I appreciate your transparency and authenticity... something about acknowledging your natural inclination and not forcing yourself to stick to your original plan really struck home with me. Thank you for sharing your process.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, so lovely, great colors!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the card...stunning color! Thanks for sharing your inspiration and technique.
ReplyDeleteLovely. Never apologize for rainbows, even if a fake apology. lol
ReplyDeleteThat water color technique you have is great. I hope I can reproduce it. I will be giving it a try. Thanks for the ideas and the blog hop.
ReplyDeleteLove the rainbow colors you used. Great job!
ReplyDeleteI really love the stained glass love words stamps. I like your card, but I LOVE your advice.

ReplyDeleteLove this card. Your style is wonderful. Copic touch added just that pop of color needed. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI adore the colors and that stamp!
ReplyDeleteFabulous card, love your creative design and beautiful colors. Great video too.
ReplyDeleteLove this bright and happy card! The little white dots really set off the vibrant primary colors too!
ReplyDeleteI am so in love with this stamp! I make "Happy Day" cards, Birthday cards and all holidays cards, not just Christmas, and take them year round to nursing homes.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a colorful card! Makes me happy :-)!
ReplyDeleteLoved this card and I do NOT think you do the same thing all the time AT ALL. Girl you are way too hard on yourself! Love your work, love this stamp. The little thing I do is that all year long I make Christmas tags, then package them nicely in groups of five and ten and donate them to be sold by local charities. It's what I love to do but it brings in money for worthy causes. Win-Win. : )
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colors on a beautiful card!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous colours - so bright and jewel-like. Makes me think of stained glass.
ReplyDeleteI came across you not too long ago! I love watching your videos. You are such a hoot. Thank you for sharing your talent, and for inspiring me!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWow! I would not have thought to add copics over distress oxide. I definitely want to give this a shot, this turned out amazing!
ReplyDeleteYou're watercoloring is beautiful.. thank you for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card and in craft it’s always good to be true to yourself
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteYou are such a talented artist!
I love to watch you create. You tell everyone it's okay to change it up if it's not working for you. Your being to hard on yourself,I think there are many different types of of cards you've shown.
ReplyDeleteFor my random acts of kindness, right now I'm helping take care of an older lady. She has parkense. But most of the time if I see someone who needs help I just do it. One day a young kid didn't have enough $ for gas so I paid for it, or maybe an elderly person needs help in the store, I just ask them if I can help them. One day there was a young woman and she smiled at me. I just told the truth that she had a beautiful smile. She thanked me and said she had terrible week and that made her day, it cost me nothing but kindness. I got more from than she did.
Glad you followed your heart and went rainbow ❤️
ReplyDeleteLove your coloring!
ReplyDeleteI truly love this card. And you need to heed your own advice and stop saying you are doing the same thing all the time. First, you are NOT doing the same thing. I watch all of your stuff and you do Copics coloring like NO one else. You are a master at that and I learn something every time. And second, even if you did just rainbow coloring ( which you don’t), I wouldn’t care because you are a great instructor. Be nice to yourself!!
ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful card :)
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! I never tire of rainbow colours!
ReplyDeleteThis card is so beautiful. I absolutely love that stamp and I love how you went through your process with us. Nice to be able to change your mind and keep going. Just stunning. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI think your being to hard on yourself, I love watching you create and I learn from watching. I love your cards, the subject, the colors and just listening as you design.
ReplyDeleteMy kindness acts are not always random. Right now I'm helping take care of an older lady, she is not able to get around on her own. Mostly if I see someone who needs help I just ask if I can help them, one time I gave a young man $for gas,he didn't live here and didn't have enough to get home. One time all I said was you have a beautiful smile and the lady said she had a bad week and that made her day.I think I got more from it than she did. I have a sign in my kitchen "kindness matters" it truly does and that's what I try to live by.
I always love your cards add your stories!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card, I loved watching the color layering.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful xxx
ReplyDeleteI love this card! Such lovely colors. Regarding the kindness acts, I think I need to do more, now that I think about it. I can't remember the last time!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful bright colors. Love the way the middle heart resembles a kitty.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love how simple you make this sound even though my own results would be disastrous, lol!
ReplyDeleteLove your designs! Thank you for sharing your designs and process! Love Simon Says!!

ReplyDeleteSilly me I forgot to add me random act of kindness. Here in the UK once you have reached the age of 60 you get a travel pass, which is great as long as you don't forget it. A poor elderly man got on the bus before me and had forgotten his pass the bus driver was rude and very obnoxious and told him he'd need his pass or he'd have to pay. This poor guy must of been in his 80's he was getting all flumaxed so I offered to pay for his journey there and back, it was the least I could do. Turned out he was a solider during the second world war. Very charming and endering man. He definitely melted my heart xxx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card. Always love a rainbow. Thanks
ReplyDeleteI don't care if it is another rainbow card! It is gorgeous! My last random act of kindness that I can remember is at the post office before Christmas. I was waiting in line to use the computer for mailing packages and the woman behind me had one card that needed a stamp. I let her go in front of me (I had three packages). She was very surprised and wanted to give me a stamp which just reminded me that we need more kindness in our world!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous and I love rainbow designs at any time.
ReplyDeleteOoooh such a beautiful heart, your colouring looks fab!
ReplyDeleteYou always make beautiful cards. Ilove how you explain things. My RAK is that i like to ask people in wheelchairs or automatic carts if i can reach somethings for them. The are always gracious and kind, even if they decline.
ReplyDeleteGreat card, I love the rainbow colors.
ReplyDeleteThe background stamp is beautiful and I love how you used the center portion of the stamp!
ReplyDeleteseriously cool card (and seriously... always do what makes YOU happy!)!!
ReplyDeleteLovely card. Can't wait to get all my supplies to make my own. Thanks so much for sharing your inspiration!!
ReplyDeleteyour card is beautiful, and you just gave me some really good advice. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteLove your cards and videos! You provide a Whole new world for some of us crafters!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your Magic Carpet ride :)
not sure why it doesnt show my name. Krafty Katt <3
DeleteKelly, this card is so lovely. A rainbow blend of colors will never go out of style! Thanks for sharing your creative process, especially the combination of watercolor and Copic markers. Aren't random acts of kindness one of the best gifts we can give?
ReplyDeleteLove that you followed your heart and made a rainbow❤️
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking the time to make a video showing us how you made the card (and for your wise words)! I love how you offset the heart on the card, too. Using your copics to color on top of the watercolor is such a good idea! I always learn something new every time I watch your videos!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful card !! Thanks for sharing the whole way to make this card !!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you let yourself do this card as I totally LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteHey rainbow lady, the card design is gorgeous. I think the goal is to give a card that expresses your thoughts, love, or appreciation for someone. This card does that! It’s not about how wild and crazy it is, it says Adore you so much! Right? Oh, I hope I got that right. Hang on, I need to go back up and make sure... Phew! All that scrolling makes one tired. Yes! That’s what it says. That’s the purpose of the card. Love the rainbows. Did you know you can only see the rainbow through the rain? Or after the rain? Another Kelly
ReplyDeletereally like the use of the heart in a heart
ReplyDeleteThank you for the beautiful inspiration !
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card! I never tire of your one-layer, rainbow-hued cards!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing and the opportunity! These are beautiful. Love the colors!
ReplyDeleteBwahahaha. You can't apologize for doing what makes your colorful heart happy :)
ReplyDeleteYour card is gorgeous! I love the colours used. Thanks for the advice on how to get depth using copic over the water colours. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteLoved it! Keep doing what you love. I will be back! We need you just like you are!
ReplyDeleteI am the same way, I start and say I am trying something different and ALWAYS end up doing the same thing that I love. They say, Perfections shouldn't be messed with! HAHAHAHA! It is gorgeous! I love the rainbow effect and if I just half your talent I would be happy! Be proud! You inspire me so know you did your job! <3
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty card...I love the colors!
ReplyDeleteI love color and rainbows, too! Own it, girl!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove these rainbow colours! They are so bright and fun and happy. I could never get tired of seeing your cards. Thank you for sharing! :)
ReplyDeleteI love that you touch up with comics! Shading and enhancing made it amazing. Thanks for reminding me about masking to get the shape you want from stamps. Let rainbows be your 'signature' style. I love it!
ReplyDeleteRecently I packed up loads of cards to donate to care homes and shelters, hoping to brighten someone's day!
Bahaha! Copics! Not comics!
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty cards. Love the blending.
ReplyDeleteYour card is so colorful and pretty!
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly,
ReplyDeleteNormally I post on your You Tube posts but I thought I better head over here this time. I love how this card turned out. I will say that I thought what you started with looked amazing. It doesn't seem to matter, you always end up with something gorgeous. Because you said never scrap it, always make it work, I ended up doing that a couple of weeks ago when I thought I had made something trash. I left it on my table and came back the next day and ended up coming up with something way cool. Thanks for the inspiration!
Trust me , these are anything but blah. They are beautiful and look fun to make.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card - love it!
ReplyDeletelove that you left all your creative process in video. No stress card making!!! So pretty YAY Side note your nails are fabulous.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful heart card !!
ReplyDeleteYup, you're right... Never be sorry for Rainbow creations... So pretty!
ReplyDeleteLove your cards and commentary. You always make me smile, I love showing kindness to others with simple gestures, whether it’s giving an expected monetary tip to those workers who help me search for items in a grocery store or putting away trash cans for neighbors who are sick and shut in, even passing on a verbal thanks to those who show random acts of kindness to me. A little catches on until the little becomes a lot.
ReplyDelete"You do you". Great advice, Kelly. And BTW, I love what YOU do! Beautiful Valentine card!
ReplyDeleteLove your card and your videos are awesome! I would watch you color any card, your stories are the greatest! Keep up the great work, you are inspiring and I do learn a lot and try out your techniques.
ReplyDeleteYou never need to be sorry for using rainbow colors. Rainbows are beautiful, even on cards!
ReplyDelete
