Hello Crafters!
I'm super excited to be joining Hero Arts for there 2018 Catalog Blog Hop!
If you've been hopping along then you already know that this release includes tons of amazing products. You can shop the entire catalog here.
You should have arrived from the wonderful Rubeena's blog. I'll wait while you pick yourself up off the floor because she's just completely knocked you out.
If you're just stopping by you don't want to miss out on all the fun!
You can start from the beginning at the Hero Arts Blog.
Before we get into the cards (yep more than one!) just a friendly reminder to make sure you're leaving a bit of love along the hop.
Hero Arts will be giving away three $50 shopping sprees, drawn from comments left across all blogs in the hop. Please comment by Thursday, February 22nd at 11:59pm PT. The winners will be announced on the Hero Arts blog the week after commenting closes.
If you follow me on Instagram than you have definitely gotten a peak or two of the following cards :)
First up is this stunning Mermaid. I just though she was so beautiful, I had to color her. I used copic markers to color her and then used the coordinating die to cut her out.
For the background I used the new Hero Arts Liquid Watercolors. Once they were dry I placed the new Sea waves Stencil on top and pressed my Hero Arts Unicorn White through the stencil to create the "spray" look"
The sentiment is from another new mermaid release called Mermaid Kisses. So cute!
I couldn't stop using those liquid watercolors at just a background so...
I stamped down the Flowering Magnolia stamp in Antique Linen Distress ink and set to work. I combined Mulled Wine and Strawberry to get the pretty pink you see in the petals.
Once the first flower was dry I masked it and stamped another. I used a slightly darker version of the same colors for the second flower since it's tucked behind.
Last but not least you know we aren't getting through this release without a scene right?
Good to know you know me :)
I stamped several of the characters and accessories from Storytime and In The study to create my scene. To complete the look I stamped the new Bookshelf stamp in the background using Soft Sand ink.
I wanted the Bookshelf stamp to complete my scene but not steal the show so I opted to just leave it soft. I did all the coloring with Copic markers before finishing it off with one of the best sentiments ever. So true. Never too many books!
You can watch the whole card in the video below. It's a long one where I talk a bit about my first design team and what I've learned since then.
Feel free to skip it, it's a long hop!
The video will be here :)
Your next stop on the hop is the fantastic Libby Hickson. I can't wait to see what she made can you?!
Here's the entire hop list in case you get lost along the way

ReplyDeleteLove your cards--they are amazing as usual! Thanks for the insite about being on a design team. I have been thinking about it, but I was afraid it might be too demanding. As you said, you have to know your limitations and not stress yourself out.
ReplyDeleteOmg, the mermaid card is gorgeous. The other 2 are beautiful too but the mermaid blew me away. Thanks so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteAlways love story time with you Kelly! The longer the better! Beautiful, inspiring card! Love them all.
ReplyDeleteYou always inspire me to try something new. I don't see me going down the Copic road, but I've yet to try a one later scene card with this much detail. I think this weekend I'm going to try a multi masked one later card. I'll let you know how it goes on Instagram. I'm sorry you were stuc. I can answer the amoxicillin question you passe on your You Tube video. Most people are now immune to it so prescribing it can actually cause more issues. No medical degree here, just chronic infections in my recent past. I'm glad you're feeling better.
ReplyDeleteI love your mermaid! The colors are beautiful.

ReplyDeleteAll 3 cards are beautiful, but I love the mermaid card and especially love the stenciled background behind it! The magnolia came out gorgeous using the liquid watercolors. Was hoping you had more input on how it was to work with them in this post... comparison and contrast to traditional watercolor. Perhaps you have in another post, I'm playing catch up from being sick myself. I sympathized with your story!!!
ReplyDeleteKelly your colouring is amazing. Just love the scene you created of the mother reading to her son.
ReplyDeleteWow Kelly... Gorgeous card..Love each one of them..My favourite is third one..love the beautiful scene you have created.

ReplyDeleteYour artwork is always so amazing! I really enjoy watching your tutorials. Today's cards are so beautiful! I love the new mermaids because who doesn't want to be a mermaid!
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are beautiful and I love that sweet book scene. I'm with you on the blue dress. I do not wear a lot of pink. Hope you're feeling better. I really enjoyed watching you color in the video. I'm out of practice since I haven't colored in ages.
ReplyDeleteWell, my thoughts on your book card basically boil down to "I want to go to there!" I love how you did the background of the mermaid especially. I never think of white pigment ink, but I really love how it turns out. And, of course, your florals are stunning as usual. How on earth did you get this all done while you were so sick? You amaze me. Thank you as always for sharing and being such a fun ray of sarcastic sunshine in my day.
ReplyDeleteI am love with the book card!!! I must get that stamp! Thank you!
