Watercolor Hydrangea and a Craft Chat on Cameras and Photography

Hello Crafters!

Late night post here.
Why?
Well... I slept all day.
No really, I was so confused when I woke up and it was dark out.
I guess I'm still recovering from last week's cold.

Fortunately, I did have the energy to play a bit in the craft room.

I had previously posted a Magnolia I painted with the new Hero Arts Liquid watercolors but I didn't film it. It was the first time I used them and honestly I just wanted to play haha.

I did get my second attempt on film for you guys though :)

I stamped down this beautiful Hydrangea stamp from Gina K designs in Barely Beige ink from Simon Says Stamp so the end result would be more realistic.
That ink is amazing for a no line look!

You may also notice these photos look a bit different than usual.
It was necessary to get an accurate view of the card. Taking pictures of soft colors is hard work!

I'm talking about that and answering a few questions I've received about photography and staging in the video below.

Even though I didn't know it in the video I did look it up haha.
The Video Camera I use is a Samsung F90

I did find it has been discontinued by Samsung. This one from Canon appears to be very similar.

The camera I use for photos is a Nikon Cool Pix S4000.

However, like I said in the video some people don't need all the extras. My stuff certainly isn't top of the line but it works for me.

I hope you found some information worth having whether it was on the photography end or the watercolor end. Maybe both? :)

Thanks for stopping in!

  2. Kelly, I absolutely love your cards and videos. You’re so much fun to watch with all your relatable stories. You’re so talented and HILarious; I love your channel. 5. Absolutely delightful card, Kelly! Thanks for the tips on photographing cards. Your nails always look so beautiful - you're going to have to start posting the colour of polish you are using the way that Kristina Werner does! I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to know.

  6. Stunning! This watercolor deserves a frame. I would certainly place it among my photos and art. I love the real time video too. You teach us so much. The info on cameras used was great too.
I’m going to Gina’s shop this Saturday and I’m for sure picking up this stamp set. Thanks so much for sharing.

  8. Wow Kelly, this is so awesome. For me watercolouring don't seem to work, I don't get it nice, I think that I don't have enough control about it. But, perhaps I have to try it the way you do it, little water. I let you know how it went when I have tried it.
Thanks for this great artwork and tutorial.
