See I wasn't lying when I said I'd be back really soon with a new video.
I have another video sponsored by the awesome Simon Says Stamp today. We are doing a little bit more watercoloring too.
This card is extra special because it's for my momma. Not that it didn't come without a few set backs but in the end it worded out. It usually does. :)
I started by stamping in barely beige ink from Simon Says Stamp so I could get a no line look with actually losing my lines. I find that on more detailed images I need to retain the lines so that I can make sense of the image as I'm painting.
My issue actually came with the sentiment. You can see that it looks a bit like it has a shadow in the picture above. Because well, it kind of does but it wasn't intentional.

I was a little sad to cover up part of the painting but honestly, the dark brown wasn't working here.
I'm just glad that I was able to fix it with the heat embossing. Not to mention finding out that colorless blender will erase the residue, at least on vellum, is something I'm sure will be helpful in the future.

ReplyDeleteI don’t know what is more beautiful, your card or your love for your Mom. As much as I think your card is stunning, I’m going for the love of your Mom. It was a beautiful story which brought tears to my eyes. I too had a wonderful relationship with my Mom and I miss her everyday. And, I gave her a single rose (they were often a pink/yellow color) every birthday and Mother’s Day.

I'm sitting here almost at the end of this video, watching it on a 60" screen. How I love this. Not only is the card so beautiful, but hearing you talk about your mom has the ol' lump in the throat effect on me. I could talk about my own mother in very much the same way, Sadly, I lost her when I was 35. Even so, you and I can both count ourselves winners of the Mom Lottery! Thank you for your art, and the personal story.
ReplyDeleteI love your gorgeous card Kelly and telling over your mum did think me about mine. Mine died at an age of 91 years and now, 14 years later I still miss here. Not only by the big things in live but also the little ones you talked about. Calling here asking about a recepy or to here some advice etc. Thanks for this beautiful story what is an ode on every loving mum!

I haven't watched the video yet, but I have successfully erased versamark from vellum with a white eraser after its been heat set and reused that piece of vellum.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, the paining is gorgeous no matter that it is a stamp you still have to put color in the right places with good strokes for it to look this fabulous.

ReplyDeleteKelly your story about your mom and how hard she worked.. and how you couldn't appreciate her until you started to do the things she did, well.. it was beautiful. It hit home for me and for probably so many of us. You truly do have a beautiful relationship with your mom. It's the kind of relationship that I also have with my mom and that my daughter has with me. I enjoyed listening to your story and could go on and on listening to you. As for this card, just stunning!!!! Absolutely beautiful watercoloring and I love how you fix your mistakes and capture it all on camera. It helps us out greatly! Thanks for being the beautiful person that you are!
