Talk about a birthday celebration right?
Speaking of celebrating...
I have two cards for you guys today.
When Wendy invited me to the hop I went immediately to the store and just bought birthday, birthday, birthday.
The problem with that is then I wanted to use it all haha!
I decided to make two cards using the Diagonal Striped Coverplate because I needed to use this guys. Like, a serious need.
I used some distress oxides on the background along with a spattering of perfect pearls for some shine. I die cut the cover plate and then had two sets of stripes to work with.
I bought two different birthday critter sets to use and I couldn't pick between then so I used both :)
The sweet little elephant with his balloons and that darling dragon and his cake were just perfect for these rainbow backgrounds.
I heat embossed my sentiments on back paper and popped everything, yep even those stripes, on foam tape. If you've ever been here before you already know rainbows, black and white, and copic coloring are my favorite things.
Which one is your favorite?
I finally got the video finished. After catching a few hours sleep.
Hallelujah!
You can watch both cards come to life in the video below.
If you need to get hopping, and I don't blame you with all the wonderful people on this hop, skip the video. It'll still be here later :)
Your next stop on the hop is the fabulous Kerin Sylvester. I'm sure she has another awesome project waiting for you!
In case you get lost along the way here's the entire hop list:
Thanks so much for stopping by!

ReplyDeletePin, Pin, Pin...these are sooooo cute!
ReplyDeleteGreat way to use the diagonal stripes. Both cards are fabulous but I think i love that Dragon the best.
ReplyDeleteSuch a gorgeous set of cards, the one with the dragon is my favourite!
ReplyDeletehow cute... those backgrounds are fabulous.. totally love
ReplyDeleteYour cards are adorable!
ReplyDeleteWhat great cards!
ReplyDeleteThese are SO cute! Love the rainbow shading & the amazing coloring! Love them! ♥♥
ReplyDeleteKelly!!!! OMG!! These are darling cards!! So hard to pick a favorite, but the edge goes to the dragon because my first grandbaby was born 3 months ago and her nursery is a dragon theme! This just may have to become her 1st birthday card. I think I can accomplish this over the next 9 months! LOL
ReplyDeleteSO not fair to ask which one is the favorite--but I do want to squeeze those adorable little puffy cheeks on the dragon! I also caught the part about need. It is amazing to me that my skilled but not creative friends do not understand the "need" aspect, nor the urgency of an idea! Hmmmm, might be how I got started jumping into blog hops. I am totally okay with winning something, but I love the creative stir that happens. Thanks for always making me smile.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh these cards are so stinking cute! I love the dragon! I also love the rainbow striped die cuts!
ReplyDeleteWow!! Super colorful, adorable and gorgeous cards!!
ReplyDeleteI think the elephant is my favorite! But the dragon is cute too. Thanks for sharing.

ReplyDeleteYour coloring is the star of this card, as usual! I'm loving that background plate, too. Think that will have to go onto my must have list.

ReplyDelete[margessw(at)icloud(dot)com]
Adorable cards! Your critters are su cute.
ReplyDeleteBoth of your cards are so adorable! I think the elephant is my favorite, just because I love the balloons :)
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love how the backgrounds came out, and I agree that it would be super cool to pop up and inlay the pieces into the original... you should do that! I appreciated the part at the end where you shared how the actual construction is the part you don't like. I think we all have parts that we get to and go "ugh" but have to push through. For me, fussy cutting... and yet I'm too cheap to buy coordinating dies! Lol
ReplyDeleteThese are so cute! That elephant is adorable!
ReplyDeleteOh my! These are the cutest!! Awesome how you got 2 cards from one background!! I will definitely be back to watch the video. :)
ReplyDeleteLove these cards. The rainbow back ground is stunning. Will need to get these stamps for cards for grandbabies!! Thanks Kelly!

ReplyDeleteSo fun and colorful
ReplyDeleteWhat fun cards. What little one wouldn't enjoy these cards. And then mama would add them to their baby books. Saved forever. Great use of color!
ReplyDeleteCute colorful and fun cards.
ReplyDeleteLove both of these! Great backgrounds too - I love that you get 2 great backgrounds with one die!!
ReplyDeleteI love those rainbow backgrounds! Both cards are adorable-I just can't pick a favorite!
ReplyDeleteI'm using my 5th amendment rights to refuse to respond to which is my favorite on the grounds that I will incriminate myself by choosing something different the next time. (That's exactly how the Constitution works, right?) But seriously, I love these both. Though I do think you're a madwoman for popping up the background. All that fussiness of trying to figure out where it will lie over a space or over a popped up part--yech. I'm with you; that's not my favorite part of cardmaking. But anyway, thank you for this great video and for showing off these adorable stamp sets.
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly, I have been watching your videos for a while now. And these two are no different from the other ones, they are great!! I couldn't choose any of them as my favorite. Thanks for sharing these two adorable stamp sets!!
ReplyDeleteYour cards are adorable. I love the elephant one the best.
ReplyDeleteOh so cute!!! I love the dragon and elephant, but the dragon has to be my favourite!
ReplyDeleteLove the colors! So cheerful and fun plus 2 for 1 what is not to love!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, your colouring!! That dragon, so so gorgeous. I love what you've done with both those gorgeous images. Stunning creations. So clever to use the 'waste' from the main die on the second card. Love that! Love the rainbow inking too. So gorgeous. Hugs, Wends xoxo
ReplyDeleteYour cards make me smile. They are so bright and colorful and fun! I love how you colored the elephant and the dragon.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE how you are willing to not only read up to but show your mistakes. It makes me feel much more empowered in my own crafting. Plus, I love your irreverent attitude;I'm pretty sure we'd be friends I'd we met in real life
ReplyDeleteSO CUTE! What perfect colors and images for a variety of cards. You can't help but smile as they are so cheerful.
