Colored Pencils and Embossing on Dark Cardstock

 Hello Crafters! 

Well we are just catching up on all the things this week.

I have another card video to share with you. This one was previously shared on the WPlus9 blog 

I'm still trying to push myself to try and practice different mediums. New things are good things even if it doesn't always feel that way lol. 

For this card I decided to heat emboss my flowers on some dark gray cardstock and then use colored pencils to fill them in. I opted for colored pencils because A. It's different than what I usually use and B. I wanted that white and purple lily haha. 

I actually approached this similarly to my Copic markers. I laid down a layer of white and moved through the colors adding my shading all the way out the darkest color. Then another layer of white followed by another layer of colors. 

After I was done coloring I fussy cut the flowers and leaves so I could pop them up over a tone on tone background. This set is actual an Easter set, which I'm sure you heard me say before, but that beautiful background stamp makes it a year round beauty for sure.

I'm so glad I switched up the background. I think the tone on tone adds a ton of interest without competing to be center stage. I did have someone ask why I used dark cardstock if I was going to cover it up. I really feel like the white is more effective on dark cardstock, could just be me.
