Good. I hope you got everything you wanted. Because one can never have enough craft stuff haha.
For today's card I wanted to use the gorgeous butterflies in the Beautiful Day set but I also had a really fun idea for the background.
I started by ink blending a few blues, greens, and yellows on the background. Go light on this layer. We're going to build up. Once layer one is down add your stencil over top. Do another layer. Don't be afraid to put different colors over each other. It makes for a more interesting look. I moved my stencil around about 3 times total but you do you. Move that baby around as much or as little as you want. Spatter some water and then some perfect pearls to really play up the layers.
Once that was done I stamped my butterflies and a few leaves on another piece of cardstock. I colored them up with even more distress oxides because it's super fast. To add a punch of color I used a few copic markers over top.

Even though the card has a lot going on it actually comes together pretty quickly. The background is way busier than my normal go to but I think it's really pretty. I'd like to try to again maybe slightly more contained.
Close up you can really see all the shimmer and shine we added. It's super fun!!

I LOVE this card! Especially the background! Can you believe I bought this stamp set as part of the kit and haven't used it yet?! Now I have to look through my stencils and see what I have that work well with these stamps. Because of course the one you used is out of stock!
ReplyDeleteIt's a gorgeous card Kelly, I love it, just like the music you played in the beginning and end of the video. I learned again a lot from you. Also thanks for the lovely words to all the mum's who have a bad day. My daughter is grown up to a great lovely adult and when she was young I also had sometimes such days. But mum's all over the world, kids love you unconditional and you always do better than you think. Enjoy them they are adults before you know it.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous boho ish card, butterflies are a big favourite of mine. I have tiny butterflies tattooed fro m my ankle to my hips on my left leg, and I love how pretty these are. Thank you for the positive mum encouragement, I've cried myself to sleep at times worrying I'm not enough for them on many occasions so hearing others the same is reassuring.x
