I had a wonderful day. Isn't it nice when it works out like that?
The sentiment in this set is what sold me on making a card with hit. "Eat a donut" Yeah sometimes it's that kinda day, am I right? I new the donuts would be mostly neutral browns so I decided to add a ton of color with my background.
I started by stamping out my sentiment so I could get placement for the donuts. After that I laid down a few monochromatic colors of distress oxides.
I didn't want the card to be too crazy because I knew the donuts were going to be sprinkled in the background. Once the ink blending was done I added spatters of clean water and perfect pearls. I also knew because I opted for oxides I would have to restamp the sentiment. Since they are partially pigment ink they do have a chalk like finish that will dull your black stamping.
I colored up my donuts with my copic markers and added the heat embossed sentiment on foam tape. A smattering of clear sequins finished it off :)

Love this card. My Dad loved his donuts. When we were kids we used to lure him out to pick us up at the train station that had a donut shop. We had to be sneaky about it because he had high cholesterol and Mum was worried that all those donuts would be the death of him, but he died of cancer not his beloved donuty goodness. We still have his Donut King coffee mugs 13 years later. This card would have made his day as long as it came with a donut, because without it would only be a torturous tease.

I love the way you think Kelly. I can't always think of an idea for a card much less take a sentiment and a small circle and turn them into THIS! You amaze me with your great card ideas and your talent!

ReplyDeleteThis is how I know we would be friends I'd we met in real life: because I was totally going to say that my favorite donut is maple bar, u too you mentioned the Boston cream, and I was like "Oh yeah. I like those even more." Plus I would also go gaga for a super chocolatey donut called the brownie bomb. Love the videos; keep them coming
ReplyDeleteGorgeous fun card, what better advice than that, just eat the donut ! I'm a huge pudding person too, I have been known to actually start a meal with pudding so that way I knew I would have room for it, never panic just start with pudding is often the saying my kids hear.x
