Faux Watercolor with Layering Stamps and Hero Arts Glimmer Metallic Inks: Hero Arts Season of Wonder Blog Hop

Hello Crafters!

Welcome to the Hero Arts Season of Wonder Blog Hop!
You should have arrived from the amazing Laurie Willison's blog. If you're just starting this incredible holiday journey head over to the Hero Arts Blog.

This catalog of stamp goodness is amazing. You can shop all the products in the release here.

While you're hoping along leave some love and encouragement. Hero Arts is generously giving away 2 $50 shopping sprees to the Hero Arts online store, randomly drawn from comments left across all blogs in the hop. Comment on blogs by 11:59pst on Sunday, August 26

Today I have a little bit of a different technique for you.
Let's get to it!

Two things were happening when I approached this card. I desperately wanted to play with the new Glimmer Metallic inks and I wanted to try doing something different with layering stamps.

I started by stamping the bottom layers of the flowers and leaves in a light distress ink on watercolor paper. I chose distress ink since when it mixes with water it will disappear. I painted the flowers with water and the dropped in some Liquid watercolors. Once those were dry I did the leaves too.

Next I used Hero Arts inks to stamp down the detail layer. I painted over the flowers again this time with minimal water and then used a #2 round brush to add in the red glimmer ink over top. This gives the detail layer a beautiful metallic shine while still giving that hand painted watercolor look.

To finish off the card I used the green to paint a large panel of watercolor paper and then cut my sentiment with the new Christmas Fancy die. These inks are so opaque with just a little water I didn't have to use much of the glimmer ink at all!
And it's so shimmery :)

Thanks so much for dropping by!

Your next stop on the hop is my amazing friend Jessica Frost-Ballas
Happy hopping!

If you get lost here's the entire hop list.
