STAMPtember Sugar Pea Designs Cuddly Cacti: Glowing Lights

STAMPtember is so fun :) 

Today's collaboration is Simon Says Stamp and Sugar Pea Designs and these Cuddly Cacti are so charming! 

I loved the sentiments from this one so much but as soon as I saw the birthday sentiment I was like hmmmm I could make that pot a light....a party light...a mexican dance party.....

Yassss! 

I started off by stamping and masking all my cacti and their pots so I could add in my distress ink background. 

In order to get the "glow" in the background I covered each masked light with the color I wanted to make the lantern. I then put in the just turning night sky with a few blue distress inks. 

I removed my masks and finished drawing in my dance floor then busted out those copic markers. This one was so fun to color with all the different colored lights :)

The results look super cool but this technique is actually so simple. I love the effect it gives!! 

I originally stamped the sentiment it but after the camera was off I decided you really couldn't read it. I quickly heat embossed the same sentiment in white on black so it's an *almost* one layer card.
