I had intended on putting it up two days ago and then life got in the way.
Heading into Friday I'm hoping for a weekend that includes crafting somewhere in it.
How about you?
I used my Photo Play Papers again but this time I practiced a fun coloring technique instead of making a scene. Christmas brings lots of Snow globe stamps and dies so I thought it would be a good one to tackle. Plus, that penguin?! So stinkin cute.
The most helpful bit of advice I can tell you for this technique is start with your lightest color.
Yes, you will have to build to a darker color.
Yes, that will take more time.
Yes, you will be able to cover up it up or alter it if it's starts going sideways.
Trust me. It's worth it.
Outside of the coloring I kept the card super simple. I just trimmed out the image and my sentiment then popped them up on foam tape.

I think the card is simple but effective. Sometimes it's nice to stick to an easy design and let the coloring be the star.
I wanted to share a few still photos of the other cards I created in case you wanted a closer look :)
If you check out the JOY card in the bottom left you can see me using the same technique just on a different shape. That's the great thing about techniques once you're comfortable with me you can start applying them all over!
I think that Snowman is just adorable. I love how his accents create that visual triangle. They really pop against his white body and that dark blue sky.
the Christmas tree scene might be my favorite one honestly. I had so much fun creating that mini scene!

Great cards Kelly, I love the way you showed how to colour the snowglobe. Although I don't have Copics or any other alcohol markers, I have the Zig CCRB markers and I can use your tips to colour also. So thank you so much for your great video.

ReplyDeleteFabulous. Never heard of these papers before which by the looks of it is a shame. Don't worry with the words thing, I've been doing it for weeks while I've been ill, it's been guess what's mum's talking about now lol. Oh nice nails by the way.
ReplyDeleteI had never seen these papers- neat!! Some of my friends send cards into the prisons- these would work well because it has to be a 1 layer card.
