Hello Crafters!
It's been a long cold January here and I was in the mood for a little bit of color.
Unfortunately, I also needed a sympathy card for a dear friend so the two seemed like they'd go good together.
I pulled out a stamp set I bought probably over a year ago and still had never used. Sad isn't it? It's still just a beautiful as it was when I bought it so I'm glad it finally got to see some ink. I stamped all my images on Canson Watercolor paper using Fade Out ink to get the soft no line look.
After everything was stamped I started laying down color. I like to add a line of dark color where I want my shading and then use a clean brush to pull the color the rest of the way out into the petal. Make sure you're blotting the base of your brush after you rinse it out to remove all the extra water.
Once you have added the clean water and your pigment starts moving feel free to drop in any other colors you'd like! I added pinks with purples and yellows to my pink. I love how the water mixes them to create really interesting blends.
You can watch the entire card below. I do mean watch because I give minimal instruction in this one. I'm too busy telling stories haha!
See, I told you!
Seriously though if you have any specific questions please let me know I'm happy to answer them.
Ultimately I'm happy with the way to came out and I hope it brings a small smile to my friend's face during such a difficult time.
Thanks for dropping by. I hope you have a happy Sunday!

Can you tell me where you getget youryour bakers twine? Beautiful card and just bought 3 of the four DS watercolors. Great job
ReplyDeleteGreat card. Love your story. Your life, your rules. Good luck. X
ReplyDeleteYour card is absolutely gorgeous. As far as everything else, you do what's right for you. I'm glad that you're being smart & staying safe. Way back when, in the olden days before cell phones ,I had a guy that wanted to take me on an hour and a half ride to a winery after we had met briefly at a restaurant. It was not what we had planned. I just had a bad feeling & refused to go. Maybe it would have been fine, but I just didn't like the thought of getting into a car with someone I just met. Of course I never saw the guy again, but at least I'm still on this earth to tell the story. So, my only judgement is a good one that you are being cautious.
ReplyDeleteI love the watercolor painting! Great job. In 1980 I started dating a guy from work after my divorce (I had two children under 10 at that time). We dated for eight years. We eventually got married. Long story short...he was and is the love of my life. I wish you much happiness in your new, exciting chapter of life!
ReplyDeleteKelly beautiful card!
ReplyDeleteDating after divorce!! Everyone and their mother had opinions about dating to me after I got a divorce. My advice. You do you. You only know when you are ready. Just wait to introduce to peanut for a while. I wouldn’t involve the kids until I really knew this was the guy. No need to confuse them. But the guy I ended up with was the second and best time because he’s now my husband was a friend of mine who helped me when I was studying for some work related boards. He was a friend, but we weren’t real real close. Nothing like that. And all of a sudden, we were studying together, we ask me out we dated awhile, got engaged and have been married 8 years. And I was married in my first married 12 yrs he was married 10 years. I was divorced 3 he was just divorced 6 months when we started dating. God works his magic and is in control of everything. This marriage is so completely different and the best thing ever. Not that it’s perfect. But God know what you need, and when you need it. I just wish you much joy love and happiness in what ever your future holds! Kristin
Loved your story! I honestly think it should be made into a romcom. I'm rooting for you and a happy ending.
ReplyDeleteWOW Kelly, this IS STUNNING! Have fun and do what makes YOU happy! I have never been divorced and hopefully I won't ever be, but if I was, what I did after divorce would be MY business. And this is YOURS! Be happy!
ReplyDeleteLove the card, loved the life story even more. Here's my advice...You be you! It's nobody's business. Keep the stories coming!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card Kelly and great for you that you are dating again, remember it's your life, so do the things what makes you happy. Love to hear more stories and wish you all the love and happyness of the world!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card. Congrats on story content! 😃
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful card. I enjoyed watching you paint it, and learned some helpful tips. Also, you told your story well. Only you know what is right for you, and only you can make the right choices for your (and your son's) happiness. I wish you all the best.
ReplyDeleteI think your card is gorgeous and it will be like a big hug to your friend! I enjoyed your video and stories. You sound very happy and that is wonderful! My coworker recently divorced and her Bumble experiences have been all over the board. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Kelly, you are very talented and I love watching you water color, not something I've been daring enough to do yet!! Thank you for sharing what goes on in your life with all of us, I do so enjoy your stories!
ReplyDeleteYou are to special of a person to not have someone to treat you like the queen you are and it really doesn't matter what anyone but you and peanut feel is right for your life's.
ReplyDeleteYou do such beautiful work on the card I love to watch you create, thank you for sharing your talent with all of us!
Gorgeous watercoloring and I loved hearing about your back to the dating scene..You are such a joy!
