Easy No-Line Watercolor with Distress Oxides and Honey Bee Stamps

Sheesh. 

This card actually went up almost a week ago over on the Honey Bee Stamps Blog. I only realized it because I came in here to type another post. I think I just miss this step along the way because there's so many other steps haha! 

Today we're talking about easy no line watercoloring with an added benefit of stretching those Christmas supplies haha. The hardest part of this is the masking and that's only if you don't have sponge daubers. Otherwise this is a cake walk ya'll. 

Start by laying your stencil down on your watercolor paper. Lightly add your distress oxide ink on top either using a sponge dauber or an ink blending tool. If you use the ink blending tool you'll need to mask off specific areas so your colors don't cross contaminate. This may be easier to see in the video below. 

After your stenciling is done remove the stencil and get painting! I use my ranger craft mat as a palette by smooshing my ink pads down on top of it. Wet the entire area (one petal, leaf, or berry) and then drop in your colors. I used the original color I stenciled with and a  secondary darker color for interest.  

I also like to go a little outside the lines so it looks more hand painted but you certainly don't have too. 

Once the painting was done I realized I could get two cards for one background. Win! I trimmed my panels down and adhered them to a white cardbase. On a separate piece of white cardstock I die cut my sentiment. I then took the Salty Ocean Distress Oxide and Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide and smeared them all over the outline of the Because die. I did an extra strip in each color to finish off the card design. BAM! Perfectly matching cardstock.

Now do you get the Christmas part? These bad boys started off as poinsettias! They just look like pretty Spring florals thanks to our super simple watercoloring.
