Mirror Technique on a Masculine Card with WPlus9

 

Hello Crafters! 

Well I'd apologize for not sharing this post earlier but honestly we've been there done that.

I originally shared this card over on the WPlus9 Blog last week. 

It was Eric's birthday and he pretty much accused me of never making him a card. 

Which I never have lol. 

I needed something masculine but that still made sense as a card for him. 

Enter the coffee mug. 

I thought it would be fun to create his and hers mugs but have his mug be celebrating his birthday. 

I stamped the mug on masking paper and trimmed it being careful to leave the surrounding area intact. I then used it to mask the area around my mug. This allowed me to stamp it with several decorations without getting anything on my background. 

I used the mirror technique to create the mugs facing each other. I stamped the mug on a scrap piece of acetate, or you can just use packaging from one of your stamps, and then flipped it over to stamp it on the paper. 

You can see exactly what I mean in the video below. 

The glossy accents might be a bit over the top because the rest of the colors are so muted but I think it's okay. Balloons are super shiny right?! 

You can really do this with anything as long the inanimate object makes sense for your person. I hope you give it a try.
