Hello Crafters!
Whew, I think this catches us up to current.
Eeep.
Life is crazy.
Let's talk comparisons shall we?
For a very long time lots of you have asked me what I thought about the Arteza Real Brush Pens. and I didn't have an answer because while I owned them I had never used them.
Today that all changed!
In order to compare them as accurately as possible I made the same card twice. I used the same paper, stamps, ink, and technique. The only difference is one was made with Zig Clean Color Markers and the other was created with the Arteza Real Brush Pens. In this photo the one on the left is the Arteza Real Brush Pens and the one on the right is the Zig Clean Color Markers.
Let's start with the Zig Clean Color Markers. The colors are super vibrant which I love but I find it hard to get good shading because they are so bright. These blend well and love water. They run like crazy when you add it which makes the blending a cake walk.
The Arteza Real Brush Pens are absolutely comparable. The also blend really well and mix great when used with water. The only real complaint I had is that the colors aren't as vibrant. I think it's because the ink isn't as pigmented. To me the pink in this flower basically disappeared into the purple. the only other thing worth noting is the bristles on a few of my markers shed a little. A few of the bristles pulled right out. Ultimately this didn't effect the use of that marker just a quality thing worth mentioning.
With all of that said the price point on the Arteza are about half of the Zigs.
You can see both cards from start to finish in the video below.
Also, if you're not a regular here and you've just come for the review this may not be for you. I tell stories about my life too :)
At the end of the day I think they both look pretty good. Like I said in the video you may be able to build up the color by adding multiple layers. I didn't try this because it makes it harder to compare the two products.
Here are some close up photos so you can see the colors a little better. This is the Zig Clean Color Markers.
This is the Arteza Real Brush Pens. Like I said over all pretty much the same. These are just missing that brightness for me. At the end of the day the cheaper price point might make it worth it to have to add two layers :)
Thank you for dropping in!

Because of you I have taken the step to use watercolors. I am not good at it. I realize I will never create something as beautiful as your creations, but I have learned by watching your videos, it is more about the journey and the enjoyment and if it turns out...that is a plus. Thank you so much for your videos and inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI love that you did this comparison. I always wondered if there is a difference. I own the Zigs and I love them although I am still learning "what and how to" with because you can use them on very different ways.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for showing and I loved to hear that your cooking class pressent was great.
You were just about two miles from me!
ReplyDeleteLove your videos and stories. Thanks for sharing.
