Easy Copic Coloring with WPlus9 He is Risen

Hello Crafters!

I'm trying to get caught up on all the things. It's slow but we're making progress.
Heading into the weekend I still have copious amounts of things to get done but I like knowing I've checked one or two off the list.

I did previously share this card over on the WPlus9 blog earlier this week.

For today's card I was 100% inspired by my friend Jana. I love when you stumble across something that is so simple but really effect. Jana created this card and I just adored it. She added minimal coloring but in a way that you didn't really miss it. I hope you'll head over and check out her blog. You won't be sorry!

I absolutely adore the He is Risen set pretty much any time of year, because flowers, but it's an Easter set an it's perfect. I combined it with the Modern Calla Lilies and Autumn Leaves to create a full bouquet. I started by stamping the large background stamp using navy ink and cardstock for a tone on tone look.

Everything after that was just as easy lol. I stamped and die cut all my flowers and leaves. Then I just outlined them with a few colors. Honest. No shading nothing. Because cameras are tricky I did change the card. I originally used much lighter colors which you can see in the next photo.

Because of how washed out they were I decided to go a little bolder. The struggle was real guys. When you watch the video below you'll be able to see the actual colors. I don't abhore the final version but I loved those soft colors. Dang camera lighting.

What do you think? I kind of wish I would have left it alone but I also know it wouldn't have ever photographed well. Ah, well it's done now right?

Thanks so much for stopping by!
I'll see you guys soon :)

  1. I don't know diddly about photography, but my hubby does a lot of work with video. Maybe next time you could film your card set up with props as if you are going to photograph it, then fill it, and use a free video program that will allow you to do frame grabs, then you can use that for your blog photo.

  2. I love the look of your card Kelly but you are right when you say that the softer look was nicer. Sometimes it helps not to photograph in your lightbox but even in natural light my colours are sometimes not as nice as in real life. The idea of only colouring the outline is great I have also watched the card Jana created and that one was gorgeous also.
Thank you so much for your inspiration today and have a great weekend.

  3. Frankly, I think that's the beauty of being an artist. You can use both. You can make a card for you, with the beautiful soft colors, and one for the camera, with the bold ones. Peace, love and a great big cup of get sh*T done for your weekend.

  4. Hi Kelly, I watch your videos and visit your blog. I love your styles, card making and chatting about your life. My friend and I want to start a blog for “naughty” cards. Not really bad, just a little more of the off-colour type of cards. Do you think there is a viewing market for such things? I’d love it if you looked at the first blog post at https://seniorsatrisque.blogspot.com/ and give us some feedback.

  5. Always enjoy your videos! Love your friendly chatty style. I am with you on the soft colors. I am a big fan of the Tombow Mono Multi glue as well, but did not like it when I first tried it. I was using way too much at first. I kept seeing people use it in videos and figured I was missing the boat somehow. When I realized they were using a way smaller amount, I tried it and love the glue.
