Hello Crafters!
Welcome to the Paper Smooches Blog Hop! I'm so excited you guys!!
I absolutely love Kim and this new release is fantastic! You should have arrived from the amazing Donna Mikasa. But if you're just stopping by head over to the Paper Smooches Blog so you don't miss a thing.
Paper Smooches is generously giving away a $30 gift card to one random commentor along the hop! So make sure you're leaving lots of love along the way!

I have had the Nuvo alcohol markers for quite some time and have just never gotten around to using them. I really wanted to see how they compare to Copics and the gorgeous Rosy Posy stamp set gave me the perfect image to do it!
Why is it perfect?
Because it allowed me to create a beautiful full card with literally 2 stamps. I didn't have to worry about the layout because the stamp is a full bouquet in a generous size. I stamped it and BAM done :)
I started with the Nuvo markers which have a bullet and a chisel nib. I was worried I would miss the brush nib but honestly it just forced me to color a little differently which isn't a bad thing. As far as colors go the blending is good and they have a fairly good color variety.
I tried to match my Copic markers as closely as possible to my Nuvo markers. I was worried if I didn't you or me would prefer one over the other just because of the color scheme. I was able to get a pretty good color match. You can clearly see that the cards look almost identical. The only color I couldn't match super close was the grays. The Nuvo colors are more of a Toner or Neutral gray and I don't own those in Copics soo the Cool Grays were closer than the warm. Decisions were made.
I added a simple sentiment from the same set in solid black. The font used here is super cute. Because the letters are filled in completely it gives this smaller sentiment a little more weight which I love
Took me a hot minute but I finally got the video together. Whew!
Thank you all so much for stopping by!
Your next stop on the hop is the wonderful Alice Huang who I know has made something delightful for you :)

I'm not so sure I could give up my brush nib! Your results are both great, though. Wouldn't have been able to tell they were different markers, really.

ReplyDeleteYou did such a lovely job coloring the flowers -- terrific dimension! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful stamp and gorgeous coloring!
ReplyDeleteThis image is beautiful just like you mentioned and I'm so glad you did a comparison of copics and the Nuvo markers. questions: what paper did you color on? Is Nuvo good for beginners who have no Copics?jeandonny2000 at hotmail dot com
ReplyDeleteLove how large the rosy posy image is. Both cards are beautiful and look nearly identical, I'm not sure which is the Nuvo and which is to Copic. You can certainly color with any medium and they would be lovely!
ReplyDeleteYour cards are fabulous thank you
ReplyDeletebeautiful as always!

Great job Kelly.... The price point for the Nuvo markers makes them worth considering, and really not too much different from the Copics. I love to hear your stories whilst you work. Thanks for sharing. Carol
