Alcohol Ink Stencil Lift with Gold Foil Accents: June Pretty Pink Posh Hop

Hello Crafters!

Welcome to day two of the Pretty Pink Posh June Release Hop!
If you've been hopping along you should have arrived from the amazing Dana Kirby   If you're Just stopping by you can head over to the Pretty Pink Posh Blog so you don't miss a thing!

Pretty Pink Posh is generously giving away four $25 gift cards to the store across the blog hop from today and yesterday. You have until 6/17/2019 to comment for your chance to win. The winner will be announced on the Pretty Pink Posh Blog.

Okay ya'll this tropical release had me all giddy but ultimately you know I couldn't resist the flowers. I had to use those hibiscus!

I was chatting with my crafty friend and she sent me some pictures of her experiments with Alcohol Pearls. I've had mine for awhile and just haven't used them. I figured it was about time to change that!

I started by dropping some Alcohol Blending solution on my Yupo paper then added 4 different yellows, greens, and blues. I knew I wanted it to be a background for the flowers and this color combo felt like a great match! I let it dry for quite awhile before I added the gold foiling. You can see an entire video with that process here. I love the gold foil accents but I wanted to try a more subtle way to add interest.

I decided to try a stencil technique I saw Jennifer McGuire do quite a while back. You can see here full video here. It's super easy and fun! I laid my stencil over my background then dipped a foam ink blender into some alcohol blending solution. I swirled the foam over the background to remove some of the color and leave the stencil impression. It's really subtle because that's what I wanted but you can get really dramatic with it. Also, I didn't remove or damage my gold foil at all.

As my focal point I stamped, copic colored, and fussy cut my flowers and leaves. I opted for a bright yellowish orange so the colors would pop off the background but still be complimentary.

Here's a couple close ups of the foil and stenciling.

Foil is so hard to photograph but it's so pretty in real life it's worth it.

You know the deal, there's a video but it ain't done yet :)

Your next stop on the hop is the amazing Eloise Blue

Thank you so much for stopping by!

  20. This is such a coincidence...I was playing with my alcohol inks just yesterday and remembered you had shown a technique for foiling on alcohol inks some time ago. I found your post on YouTube and watched it again. After experimenting with how long to wait before applying the foil, the backgrounds I made turned out beautifully. I haven't tried it with the pearl inks yet, but I definitely will. Your card is gorgeous.

  21. This is absolutely gorgeous Kelly! I've used the alcohol inks with foil technique which is so very cool and your gorgeous yellow flowers just go great with the background. I love this hibiscus stamp set, I have a huge hibiscus plant in my backyard, I can see it through my patio doors, it has huge red flowers that open every morning and close when the sun goes down. I never pick any to bring in the house, I just enjoy them so much looking out my window. Thanks for sharing with us.
