It finally feels like summer here, praise Jesus, Hallelujah!
It had rained for weeks but the last four days have been gorgeous ya'll.
Another joy in my life is all the summer sets coming out.
I used a whole lot of Pretty Pink Posh to make these alcohol ink cards and I loved all the sets. So fun for summer!

Another joy in my life is all the summer sets coming out.
I used a whole lot of Pretty Pink Posh to make these alcohol ink cards and I loved all the sets. So fun for summer!
As you can see I made four cards but I only created two alcohol ink backgrounds. One of the cards might look familiar....it should, I shared it here. But since I couldn't stop myself from making the backgrounds and coloring I figured we'd just do a set :)
We might as well start with the one we've seen before right? For this background I kept to the yellows, greens, and blues. The gold is super hard to see but don't worry further down there's close ups.
I worked on Yupo paper starting by dropping down some Alcohol blending solution. Once that's down I dropped in the color of alcohol pearls I wanted. I just kept alternating the two until I was happy with the background. I then set it aside for 2-3 minutes to dry.
This is the other half of the above background. I love how each card has a totally different feel depending on what stamps you pair it with!
Once my background was dry, you can tell because it's no longer shiny, I laid down my gold foil, smoothed it over the background with my hands and then lifted it up. The foil sticks to the "sticky" parts where the alcohol has accumulated.
This piece is the first half of my rainbow background which honestly was just my practice piece to see what all the colors looked like ha!
The next step is to do the stencil technique. I laid down the Tropical Background stencil over top of the alcohol foil panel and just held it with my hand. I dropped some alcohol blending solution onto my craft mat and then picked it up with a clean foam blending tool. Then all I had to do was make small circles over the stencil to lift up some of the alcohol ink. I used some crap paper to wipe off the ink as I picked it up.
This is the last card which is the second half of the rainbow background. For both rainbow backgrounds I did the same technique but with a different stencil. I didn't cover the entire background I just did it in random areas to add interest.

I love how all four of them came out. Like I said before it's amazing how versatile these backgrounds are! Switch up the stamps you pair them with and you get a completely different feel :)
Here's a few close up so you can see the shine of that gold foil.
It can be tricky to photograph but totally worth it for the way it looks in real life. It's definitely one of those "How did you make that?" type of techniques!

Kelly's critter cottage ... LOL!!!! that is funny and scary at the same time.
ReplyDeleteGreat effect backgrounds, alcohol ink & I just don't blend together, I could follow each step exactly & the result is always huge disaster, so I'm admiring from afar. Another ant tip is mix Borax with sugar & sprinkle, ants eat take back rest they go to bed for good but not pet friendly be careful x
