Hello Crafters!
I hope you had an amazing weekend!
We had great weather here except for two super quick storms.
Sometimes it's just like that.
On Friday I put up these two masculine themed cards over on the Honey Bee Stamps Blog which is about the only crafting I got done this weekend.
Eeek.
I really love the new Car Show set from Honey Bee and I couldn't wait to use it even though masculine cards are hard for me. I knew I had to get to it before my son stole it and I never saw it again lol. I'll share a few tips for masculine cards along the way.
First tip, pattern stamping. It's a super easy way to use stamps your not exactly sure what to do with. If the theme is the same through out the stamp set put those babies together and create your own pattern paper. I did it two different ways. I stamped in multiple solid colors for this one and just black for the next one.
Stamping in one solid color allows you to add colors to your images without it looking crazy busy. Tip number two, stick with primary- ish colors. Blues, reds, yellows all tend to work for masculine layouts. Tip three, it's okay to go distressed. I did a bit of watercoloring with distress oxides but I wasn't particular about the coloring. This gives the card a more distressed look which leans toward the masculine theme.
Last for the sentiments I kept them simple solid colors. I also accented with cardstock. There's no fancy bling but the stripes of card stock still make an impact.
You can check them both out in the video below and hear a bit about my own dad.
I know I said it like three times I really love these cards. I think it's that much more enjoyable to successfully create a card when you know it's not something you're usually good at.
Thanks so much for dropping by!

ReplyDeleteI love the cards Kelly, the cars stamp set is awesome. Great tip how you made with the same design two different cards. Thank you so much for showing and for the story about your dad, I hope everything is well with him now.
