Quick Distress Ink Watercoloring: Sometimes you need a quick card

Hello Crafters!

It's been a minute.
I'm gonna be honest, sometimes the blog gets the short end of the stick.
Not because I don't love ya'll, because I do. But because sometimes I just don't have it in me to sit down and write it out.
This Momma is tired this week.
And when you have a busy week, or you've forgotten you need a card,  sometimes you need a fast card.
So here we are.
This card uses products from the Scrapbook.com March Release.

This type of card can be as messy or as controlled as you would like it. I like mine messy. I think watercolors are the prettiest when they mix. It's okay if you don't think that. The color will only go where you put the water. This makes it super easy to turn this technique into a much cleaner look.

Once I stamped my images I laid down clean water on my watercolor paper and then dropped in various colors of distress inks. I chose distress inks because they are a bit brighter than oxides. Either will work. Once I had enough color on there I dried it using my heat tool.

With everything dry I splattered on clean water, let it sit for a few seconds, and then blotted it up with a clean paper towel. This removes some of the pigment and breaks up the color. I broke up the color further and added some shine by splattering on some perfect pearls. After it was dry I foam mounted it to a black card base.
Really quick and really easy guys!

You can see the entire process in the card below and listen to a silly story about how my sister and I cannot master a job my mom does all alone ha.

Love my gram so much she was laughing right along with us haha.
I know the card is a quick one but that doesn't mean it isn't good. You could mass produce these in several colors extremely quickly. Perfect for thank you cards!

Thank you so much for stopping by!
I hope you'll give this a try :)

  2. Your story brought back memories, but I was the one needing assistance. Eleven years ago I broke my ankle and had to have surgery (pins, screws, etc.). I was in a cast for four months and could put NO weight on the ankle. I had to stay with my adult son (my only child) and he had to help me do everything. Bathing was really an experience with him trying to assist while I tried to maintain at least some modesty. We did laugh alot. Your gram is lucky to have grandDAUGHTERS and you're lucky to have a wonderful grandmother. Oh, and I love your card!
