2 Color Copic Blending and Non Traditional Christmas Colors Honey Bee Stamps

Hello Crafters! 

Whew it's gonna be a whirlwind weekend for this girl, how about you?

I hope one of us gets to be chill haha. 

I have a post over on Honey Bee Stamps Blog but of course I'm sharing here too. Usually that's just because I don't want you to miss out on it but today it's because it's a combo card! 

My lovely friend and super talented card maker friend Michelle Lupton does this fun challenge every year and I'm thrilled she asked me to play along. 

Through out the holiday season she does a Christmas Card challenge with several fellow card makers. She asks people to challenge her to various card challenges and then we both create! This year it was my pick and I chose non-traditional Christmas Cards. 

These Gnomes from Honey Bee and been side eyeing me for quite some time from their place in the to use pile. I think they are completely adorable and couldn't resist using them any longer. I think they make a great base for non=traditional Christmas colors! 

It's also been a hot minute since I made a scene card so that helped their allure as well. I stamped all my images and masked as I went. Once everything was stamped I left the masks in place to ink blend my background. I sketched and trimmed out a simple hill on my masking paper to create some snow in the background. 

I used my favorite blues and black soot to create my sky. I moved the hill mask down slightly and just used the ink leftover on the blending foam to add some shadows to my hills. Next I jumped into the coloring. 

Usually I'm 100% detail coloring all day every day. BUT when you have a really interesting scene you don't necessarily need it. I did all my shading with 2 colors of copic markers and you can't really notice. It doesn't look too simple or unfinished at all. P.S. I know I used green which is a traditional color but honestly what other color was I supposed to make that tree? 

Lastly I wanted to add my snow but was worried it would make my sentiment difficult to read. So once my background was good and dry (please check!) I stamped and heat embossed my sentiment. I then used the companion die to cut out the sentiment. This made it so I could stamp and heat emboss my snow on just the background. I added the sentiment back in with foam tape for added interest.
