Copic Coloring Blue and Gold Fall Sunflowers with Waffle Flower

I'm sharing a post on my blog on the actual day it goes live. 

I know, you're dead right?

While gold is a typical fall color blue isn't necessarily. However, I personally love them together so I decided to go ahead and do it anyway. It's my card right? 

I started off by doing some ink blending in the background. Full disclosure I did add more chipped sapphire and black soot than usual so it would read as more navy which is more fall than a sky blue. I didn't want the card looking like summer you know?

Once the background was done I splattered on some clean water and then gold perfect pearls. That gold man. SO pretty. 

I also stamped and die cut the matching rectangle and inked it up too. 

I stamped the sunflower image in copic safe ink and got to coloring. My favorite combination for gold is a Y02, Y08, YR24, and an E99. It gives a lot of depth to the coloring while still very much looking like a natural golden yellow. Once I colored the flowers I did go back in with an R32 and added a few strokes of it here and there. This just gives the flowers more interest and makes it a little less one note. 

I die cut my flowers out and then lined them up on my background to get rid of that white outline. I used various shades of blue copic markers to color around the image and help it blend in to the background. I glued the flowers down flat then popped up my ink blending rectangle. The sentiment was heat embossed in white on navy cardstock, die cut, and adhered flat to the rectangle.
