What Kind of Glitter Can I use with Stencils?

Hello Crafters! 

I said I'd be back today and I actually am. 

Mark your calendars. 

Honestly it's probably cause I'm so excited about this one :) 

I made four cards! FOUR! They're all the same but different. 

How are they different? 

Well I'm so glad you asked!

They all have a different type of glitter on them. 

Yep, this post is all about glitter. Specifically how you can use them with stencils. 

 

All the cards were done the same way for the base. I laid down my stencil and ink blended several different colors of distress ink. I chose distress ink because I love they're bold color but you can use whatever works for you. In fact, you don't even have to use ink if you don't want to. You can use these glitters on just regular cardstock for a subtle look too. 

After the ink blending was done I delved into my various glitters. They all have a different look and wide variety of glitter impact. Some are super subtle some smack you in the face. I love them all for different reasons.

Let's get started! 

For the first one I used a clear glitter pen. This is the most subtle of the glitters and adds just a slight shimmer. I use this one a lot for adding a bit of shine to my colored images. 

The price point on these is between $6.00 - $8.00 depending on where you shop. 

My two favorites are Tonic Clear Glitter Gloss SSS | SB | Tonic USA and Clear Wink of Stella SSS | SB | HB and a few links where you can pick them up. 

Next up is the Shimmer Sprays. These offer slightly more shine but it's not completely smooth coverage. These offer a more artsy effect with the fine droplets. I often use these if I can't find my Perfect Pearls to spatter shimmer on my backgrounds. 

Again, we are looking at about $6.00 a bottle. 

My two favorites are Hero Arts White Iridescent Spray SSS | SB | HA and  WPlus9 Shimmer Spray Mist WP9 

Now we're really bumping up the glitter meter here! I added a layer of Stickles glitter glue over this stencil. I only use Stardust Stickles SSS because they turn to whatever color is underneath them but there are tons of colored options. 

These offer an amazing amount of glitter for a super cheap price point at only $2.00 a bottle. 

They really do last quite a long time too!

Last but not least the glitterest of the glitter, Nuvo MOONSTONE Glimmer Paste SSS | SB | Tonic USA | Tonic UK | HB. This is edge to edge glitter that really packs a punch! 

Just like stickles they have an array of beautiful colors but I'm partial to the Moonstone which is pretty clear. 

This is also on the higher side price wise for glitter products. It's roughly $8.00 but I've seen it as high as $12.00 on Amazon. Shop small business ya'll.
