Clean and Simple POP of Watercolor

Hello Crafters! 

Please forgive me for what I'm about to do to you. 

That's right, I'm going to blow up your inbox. 

Why?

Because March was insane and I haven't typed a blog post in ages but I have all these lovely cards I want to share with you. 

  

These cards were inspired by the wonderful talented hysterical Cathy Zielske. You can find her card here. Check out the rest of her gorgeous cards while you're there. She's amazing. 

I loved the pop of color from just one flower among all the neutrals. I opted for watercolor as my medium but you can do this with whatever you have on hand :) 

I followed the same steps for each card just mixed it up with the colors :) 

I stamped my flowers and sentiment in Versamark ink after I used my anti-static tool. 

They're were some cases where I needed to mask but that was mostly because I wanted my flowers grouped so close together. 

After the flowers and sentiments were stamped I sprinkled on my white embossing powder. If you had to mask some like me be careful because the embossing powder my stick to where the mask left some light stickiness behind. I just clean these up with a dry paintbrush. Once your embossing powder is how you like it go ahead and heat set until it's all smooth and melted. 

Your base is done and you can set it aside!

I stamped the three focal point flowers a second time on watercolor paper and again embossed in white. Once these were cooled off I started my watercoloring. 

For all of these I followed the same general procedure. Use clean water to wet the petal drop in your darker color where you want the shadows and then dropped in a second lighter color at the tips. 

Rinse and Repeat. 

Resist the urge to move the colors around. This creates a great mix of color but no differentiation in shades which is what watercolor is so great at. Let the water work. 

It's easier said than done though for the first few of my petals I couldn't resist and now I have regrets haha. 

Once the painting was done and everything was dry I fussy cut out my flowers and adhered them onto the card with foam tape. I love the dimension the foam tape adds but you don't need to use it. 

I added a few sequins to connect all the elements together and then filled in the tops with glue to secure them. All three cards done! Super easy.
