Let's get to the card shall we?
The packaging for this set shows a blue rose and it stuck. Sometimes you just can't shake a design and you just have to roll with it. Even though I wanted my roses to be blue I thought it would be fun to add in an extra color here or there to make them a bit more interesting.
I started by stamping the base layer of the rose in Altenew's Ocean waves as well as the leaves in Frayed Leaf. I added the outline layer to both using alcohol safe black ink.
I added dimension with my Altenew Artist Markers in blues first. This beautiful rose has some tight areas so take your time and only add small lines of your darkest color where the petals meet. The bullet nib helps with this part!
Once I had my base layer of blues down I went in with a lighter blue green, purple, and pink to add some color to various petals. There isn't any rhyme or reason to this step. Add as much or as little as you like. I did the same thing with the leaves, laying down a base layer of green and layering on some blue for variation.
I added a woodgrain border using Altenew's Antique gold ink and a strip of gold mirror cardstock. I decided to leave off the sentiment since these types of cards can be used for some many occasions!
You can see the entire card and hear a bit about the latest furniture endeavor in the video below
